Although I agree that civilian causalities should be minimized, and describing collateral damage as bug squashes is certainly something that should be avoided, I honestly think it's almost impossible in the situation in Pakistan. Having an AK-47 in the region where those drones operate is like having a hunting rifle/shotgun in rural Canada. Unless drones are able to pick up on conversations of the targeted individual/group, these sorts of incidents will probably continue.

We're not at the technology level yet to properly detect who is an insurgent/terrorist/rebel, and who's just a civilian in a shitty part of the world.

Agreed. That suggests that maybe scaling back the drone attacks might be a necessity. Or they don't and risk the propaganda those collateral casualties give all the bad guys in the world.

Hell, even some on the right question the liberal use of drones and Hellfires... and that's without propaganda from Pakistan.
