I'm just glad for all the "little" people that work in the arenas...

This is the only reason I can think of for going back to the arena.

I'm expanding my statement to "...all others that depend on pro hockey to make their living", whether they work in arenas or not.

TRue. I think they were hardest hit though. That whole area is kind of the problem with boycotts and such. The one's who are hurt the most are those who can least afford it.

Hey, there's lots of good hockey out there.. And some of the best players in the world are going to be hard at it again. These are the guys who show the rest of us the best and newest moves. They aren't worth the money they are making, the owners sure as hell aren't worth their money, and bettman should be getting 9 bucks an hour in Mcdees.

I'm glad they play the game, but I'm happy watching senior hockey, college hockey, junior hockey and pre-novice. etc. I don't have to put out a hundred bucks to enjoy myself.

I remember the last time I put out a hundred bucks to enjoy myself.

After a little stick handling....................you scored?
:P

Yay. I'll watch, I just wish that the NHL wasn't the only League with widespread local coverage.

Although there are statements of 'never again' or any league, but the NHL, in realty the arenas will be full for the first games. There are so many of the 'better' seats purchased as season tickets by businesses for promotional purposes. They have a contract with no out clause for this season. So they will hand out tickets to their customers who will be glad to go to a 'free' event. And voila full seats.

Then there are the die hards who live and breathe player stats, play hockey pools and have opinions on the coaching, referees and individual player performance for every game. They will be glued to their TV's starting with the first game. Viewership drives advertising dollars, which goes back to supporting the league.

Then we have all the kids who play above average and go through all the levels as they age and end up a step or two from the NHL. Their dream is still to get there and Mom and Dad will do their best to make the dream come true. With relatives a whole new group of committed fans.

All I see is a repeat of the previous strikes and lockouts. People complained, but in the end nothing changed. The owners continue to get tax and arena rental subsidies, the players make more every year and the fans pay higher ticket prices. Why should this time be any different?
