So if the arson was merely motivated by someone who, say, thought that the building obstructed their view then that would be okay?

Muslims can't be 'white'?

They can be, but if you commit a crime against them, more so if the crime was commited by a non white person it's not a hate crime, it's just a normal crime.

Or so it seems.

The idea of a hate crime is a stupid idea. A crime is a crime, the motivation for the crime isn't important just the harm done.

No its not. Hate crime modifiers were introduced for occasions such as this. An attack on a Mosque like this isn't just arson. It's an attack on an entire community intended to make them fearful and unwanted.

See Bart's comment below yours. Or, this was a disgruntled member of this Muslim group who set the fire. No big deal in that case?

Can't wait to apply the same logic when Bart posts one of his "threads" Lets sss what the reaction will be then.

Trying to defend the jihadists, You lot all pretend to be moderates while in hearts of hearts you condone such violence and are all for it etc etc.

Mind you, a lot have not even condemned this act, no matter who the prep was and are busy making excuses already

Double standards anyone ?

What double standard? Muslims have been burning down hundreds of churches in Kosovo, Syria, Turkey, Iran, Egypt, and Tunisia the past couple years. Where it is apparently a muslim tradition to burn down other people's houses of worship it's only fair to apply the same standard to muslims.

So no double standard at all.

There, now don't you feel better?

^ and there you have it. For Muslims it becomes a tradition

But vice versa it becomes anything but an act of violence targeted towards Muslims and there in lie and there in lies the double standards of biased and hateful individuals like you.

P.S : Now you can go start another thread stopming your feet and throwing all your toys out of the cot because people label you as a racist, islamophobe and an all round bigot. In general a swell guy

DrCaleb DrCaleb:
I disagree. The motivation for a crime is extremely important. Crimes of passion, for instance as opposed to one that is pre-meditated.

Hate crimes are especially distasteful, because they are motivated usually by something the victim cannot change and probabally didn't do.

I find the crime of passion or crime of opportunity to be more distasteful than a crime that was planned or a crime that was because someone didn't like a group and did something to hurt a group member.

My logic is that commiting a crime because you find a victim, or think you can hurt someone without being punished is far more anti-social than someone that sets out to commit a crime for person gain, or a long established person dislike.

~

From the way you worded your last sentance I take it you blame people for being the victim of a crime?

Those who burn mosques in Missouri are no better than those who attack Coptic churches in Egypt. Charge them all with terrorism and let them rot in solitary.

That is also societies' view on premeditation; it deserves harsher punishment because it could have been avoided.

From your spelling and grammar, I take it you work as a newspaper editor? From your logic, you must therefore be my ex wife. Only she could regurgitate such incredible leaps in logic.
