Now I wished I would have seen the match, was stepping out when it started just saw a few minutes. Anyways if there were questionable remarks, I don't see anything wrong with any actions taken against such.

As far as I remember its a 6 second rule

$1:
Nevertheless, the Americans’ Abby Wambach was in Pedersen’s ear, doing what many players do when their team is losing: audibly counting down the seconds after the opposing goalkeeper gets hold of the ball to pressure the keeper to give up the ball, or the referee to make the six-second call.

“I wasn’t yelling; I was just counting,” Wambach said Tuesday in an interview with Yahoo Sports. “Probably did it five to seven times.”

In the 78th minute, Wambach said, she did it again, and this time Pedersen bit.

“I got to 10 seconds right next to the referee, and at 10 seconds she blew the whistle,” she said.

I really hope FIFA doesn't use this officiating team again anytime soon. They missed this example of creative footwork.

Huh? I don't see a problem here.

Looks pretty accidental to me.

This ranks right up there with the 87 World Juniors, for poor sportsmanship leading to someone getting screwed.

$1:
The Olympic Oath (distinct from the Olympic creed) is a solemn promise made by one athlete -- as a representative of each of the participating Olympic competitors; and by one judge -- as a representative of each officiating Olympic referee or other official, at the opening ceremonies of each Olympic Games

The judge, also from the host nation, likewise holds a corner of the flag but takes a slightly different oath:

In the name of all the judges and officials, I promise that we shall officiate in these Olympic Games with complete impartiality, respecting and abiding by the rules which govern them in the true spirit of sportsmanship

Sure glad that the Norwegian bitch understood what the Olympic oath stood for, especially the part about impartiality and true spirit of sportsmanship.

As far as I'm concerned FIFA can go fuck themselves. They're nothing more than the athletic version of the UN. Corrupt, incompetent, cruel and immoral.

Although i agree that the calls were complete bullshit and the officiating in this match needs to be looked at by FIFA, it's pretty much poar for the course in any sport for the layers or coaches to be sanctioned if they start making these kinds of remarks about the officiating.

Wouldn't need to make the remarks if the officiating had even a speck of a right to be officiating such a major match.

I've said the same about Kerry Fraser many a time ;)

Agreed. Any time an organization is more concerned about criticism towards it than the reason for the criticism it's a lost cause.

bootlegga bootlegga:
BartSimpson BartSimpson:
At least no one is blaming the USA for this. Yet.

Oh, I doubt it's the American team's fault. Sure, they play with questionable tactics and do crap like counted to try and draw a penalty, but I don't honestly think anyone on the American team would be so stupid as to try and slip the ref an envelope stufed with cash.

ok, how about NBC then.

bootlegga bootlegga:
No, if I were a conspiracy nut, I'd lay the blame on FIFA and/or the IOC, who wanted the US in the gold medal game.

Ok, how about NBC

bootlegga bootlegga:
Having the Canadian team play in it instead would have upset their license to print money...

It would have been a ratings nightmare and advertisers would have been dropping like flys. So.....how about NBC :P

I said this in the other thread; NBC doesn't have enough money to bribe FIFA, and FIFA would be offended by your statement. They're smart enough to wait for bribes that can only be funded by a nation's treasury.

According to her father, Pedersen warned the Canadian goalkeeper Erin McLeod twice for holding the ball beyond the allowable six seconds before whistling her for it. She apparently also warned the Canadian captain Christine Sinclair that her goalkeeper was hanging onto the ball for more than the allotted six seconds. McLeod said she had only received a prior warning from the referee's assistant at the start of the second half - and even then, she explained, it was just a vague reference to keeping the game going. Sinclair has not said if she had received a warning from Pedersen about McLeod holding onto the ball for too long. The question is, who are you going to believe, the two Canadian players or the referee?
