peck420 peck420: Well, since I am no good at linking to the chart I want, you get the whole dataset : http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/facts-faits/index-eng.htmandyt, my reference to out dated data was in regards to BeaverFever's 1996 image. The figures are not dissimilar...I guess some things don't change much over time. Given that gun ownership is largely a cultural issue, I'm not surprised.

There was no real reason for giving the most up to date data I could find other than providing the most up to date data.
I don't, personally, think that gun control past safety training does much, the damage comes from society and how we value our lives in relation to others.
But, I am no expert on it and I don't use guns, aside from the occasional target practice at a range, so it makes no real difference to me.

"Population of Canada by year 2000 - 30,689,000 2010 - 34,149,200 (Est.) - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Population ... da_by_year" Population Growth of 10% "Police-reported crime rate, Canada, 2000 to 2010 Year - Crimes - Crime rate per 100,000 2000 - 2,334,451 - 7,607 2010 - 2,095,921 - 6,145 Diff - 10% - 19% http://www.statcan.gc.ca/pub/85-002-x/2 ... 1a-eng.htm" There is a 9% discrepancy between the drop in CRIMES COMMITTED and the drop in CRIME RATE. Besides, 2 million crimes is still a lot of fucking crimes.

Very few homicides are not reported to police. Homicide rate is lowest in 50 years.

Yes, rape is a special category. Brock has said 90% of rapes aren't reported, but 90% of reported rapes are bs.
But what's your point here? That rape is up but we don't know it? That people wind up in hospital with severe injuries from assaults, but it's not reported?
What's mostly under reported will be minor thefts and vandalism.

What's your point with the homicide stat? Same as my point with the rape comment.
*Edit*
Just because you show up to the hospital beaten doesn't mean that it is reported as an assault crime.

It's good to see that the Conservatives get tough on crime attitude is finally showing results. Thanks Stephan Harper. Oh sorry, I forgot that only Liberals in Canada have all the answer about stopping crime and it should involve the legalization of all drugs, giving free drugs to addicts, giving free alcohol to alcoholics, making all gangbangers respectable businessmen who grow marijuana or manufacture drugs for the Government and closing all prisons since everyone knows criminals are just misguided individuals who've been oppressed by all us evil Conservatives and our backward ideas of keeping our communities and families safe.

I guess I'll have to start putting (sarcasm on/sarcasm off) in more of my posts and that goes for the rant below too.
