Prof, I think that point-and-shoots will become more AI driven but I don't see the art of photography or even fashion/wedding/ad photography going the AI route. Computers will never get there. They will just take a sterile, technically average shot.

5 years ago cameras were just less technically advanced than they are now. Amazing shots can still be taken with film cameras on fully manual. You should read some Ansell Adams. It's interesting shit!

I think we are in agreement but just don't know it :)

Nothing will ever replace human eyes. But technology will make it so it's impossible to screw up any standard picture. Lighting, focus, shadows, blinking eyes, blurring etc will all become a thing of the past.

That doesn't mean I will be able to take the picture below, but whatever one I do take will be a flawless representation of what I saw that day.

Is that Adams?

See, if you read his book, he produced shots that he visualised in his head. He would tweak in the dark room. He would be a Photoshop user. And I agree, we are not far off.

Yup, that's Adams.
I don't know much about photography but I always loved how he captured the serenity of the natural world.

He's more interesting than I expected. He was shagging Georgia O'Keefe.

Agreed. You can always find some of his prints in retail picture shops. Some very striking B&W photography.
