True, nobody want to see anybody fighting over rocks, but then again if those rocks are your home it is a different case. There are times and situations worth fighting for defending your home is one of them.

Political posturing and very unlikely to be much more.

Not enough going on here I think to warrant cheer leading for this:

The moment Argentina does more than make some noise, then maybe those of us not going can pull out our pom poms.

I hope you are right and this is just political posturing.

No guarantee, but even rats can figure out how to get out of a maze. There is enough archived media coverage from the last war to give them a hint of what might happen.

I guess you have more faith in humanity than it warrants.

The assets in theatre are more than adequate to deter an invasion. Mount Pleasant can be quickly boosted to 5000-10000 troops, 50 combat airfaft, battle field tactital transports. Quick 12 hour air-bridge from Albion.

I really don't think the UK could mount a significant presence if push came to shove. I am not saying that the recent and ongoing cuts to their military has left them defenseless however; I think they would have to call up reserves and significantly re-direct resources if push came to shove.

I don't think the UK is in much of a state to provide any sort of assistance to the existing Falklands task force beyond re-supply and as you said maybe some more CAP.

The Argentines seem to have a pattern of resorting to violence when things do not go their way. Here we have Argentine tennis player David Nalbandian assaulting the line judge on British soil in London no less!

Concur. Argentina has recently been sabre rattling at Paraguay due to Paraguay's impeachment and removal of their leftist President.
