Gunnair Gunnair: You've stated quite clearly I thought that you believed a stated religious belief was not eroding soon enough - creationism. Irrespective of whether you are being coy here, you would like to see beliefs change because you disagree with them - and when you alter those beliefs, you alter their view of God.
So yes, you are advocating they stop believing in their concept of God and convert over to your highly sanitized version of God. I dont have a version of god, but you are right that if you notion of a god cannot exist alongside evidence you can either stay willfully ignorant or you can progress. It used to be a common held belief that sea monsters were a legitimate hazard, as well as vampires, werewolves and witches were real. Should we allow people to still hold those beliefs and hunt fictional creatures which science has shown do not exist?

For a moment there you sounded like some deep south Baptist talking about how terrible it was to allow gays to be gays.

Yes because letting people go out and have witch trials is the same as gay rights.

CrazyNewfie CrazyNewfie: OMG! Really? Almost half of Americans are blinded by religion, why am I not surprised in the least? Not only is there fossil evidence that we evolved over a greeat period of time, but there's also DNA evidence to back it up. I think highly religious people are very similar to conspiracy theorists in that they believe scienctists (somehow every single one) are lieing to us! Now I don't claim to know the answer, no one really does, but there is more scientific evidence that we evolved over time then there is some book written a few thousand years ago that claims to know the truth. It amazes me that people can put so much faith in words written thousands of years ago that for all we know was just meant to be a story with lessons for people. Do you know that some (a lot?) of these same people who believe we were created in our present form also believe the Earth is the centre of the solar system? Yeah that's right, the sun revolves around the Earth! Did you know that some (a lot?) of laymen that take evolution as fact still believe we evolved from monkeys and get right pissed off when you attempt to correct them? But yeah, yer right, atheists are so much smarter than us dumb-asses that believe in God.

Yes because letting people go out and have witch trials is the same as gay rights. Yes because witch trials are happening all of the time in North America. It really is ridiculous the depths athiests will go to remove rights and freedoms.

Wow you arent even trying to understand my statements aren't you?
Witch trials have stopped because science and reason has proven witches do not exist.
Science and reason has also shown we have evolved from more basic invocations of life, yet people still think we are created by a divine hand in our current form.
Most developed nations populations have adopted this fact, I hope some day that the majority of Americans will as well.
I really dont know why you are trying to troll me, has anything I've said been that offensive to you?

It really is predictable with you that when someone takes you a bit task for your latest bit of athiest sermonizing it's trolling. Really, get over yourself here and allow people to believe what they wish. We just had one trolling wacko flogging their religion leave the forums, we don't really need you stepping up to lecture everyone on what they should believe so that you can sleep better at night.

Guy_Fawkes Guy_Fawkes: Should science classes start taking day trip to here? http://creationmuseum.org/Cultural geography classes might.

We are not discussing intangibles, it is proven science. Do you feel that it is right to deny a child who is gravely ill a blood transfusion because it is against their religious beliefs? Or refusing to give a woman emergency contraception (after she was raped) because it is against your religious practice?

Gunnair Gunnair: Guy_Fawkes Guy_Fawkes: Should science classes start taking day trip to here? http://creationmuseum.org/Cultural geography classes might. Which is something I completely agree with, but the curators of that museam would not. They see creation as fact and evolution as fantasy, something they try to enforce children to believe. To me willfully teaching a child to accept bad science and ignore science fact is plain wrong.

I don't believe in God anymore, at least not the way the bible tells it. The scientific evidence is quite clear. That's not to say that their couldn't be some type of higher power, the universe is immense. I also don't care for fanatical atheism that mocks Christians with the flying spaghetti monster and other crap like that.

Or refusing to give a woman emergency contraception (after she was raped) because it is against your religious practice? You moved quickly from the personal view that someone holds that has no impact on society to one that does, but is seen rarely. I get that these logical leaps seem necessary for you to continue this discussion, but like invoking the atheist's holy example of 300 year old witchcraft trials to support religious suppression, they realty don't contribute much. There are a lot if things I don't like in life, but I can't say denying medical services because of religion makes me near as mad as killing children in the name of politics or simple indifference. Lots if kids are dying every day because they are targeted in war. If you were posting your anger over that, then your transparent arguments wouldn't seem so....transparent in their agenda. Denying medicine because of religious beliefs is a problem, especially in the most recent case in Oklahoma, but I'd be far more interested to know where your ire is in the far more common denial if medicine because of a lack of money. Really, once again, your agenda is showing.

RUEZ RUEZ: I also don't care for fanatical atheism that mocks Christians with the flying spaghetti monster and other crap like that. The Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is not about mocking Christiananty, it's about pointing out the absurdity that reigion in general trumps society especally in places where such seperation of church and state is law. It was created to point out the special ways religion is accomodated.

I never said people who believe in God were dumb-asses, I myself believe in a higher power and don't consider myself a dumb-ass (well, not really ). I just think religion blinds some people. It's quite alright to have beliefs, I don't know what kind of world we'd live in if people didn't, but to have them to the extent that all other information is wrong is kinda crazy to me.
