There is a difference between accepting any type of sexuality and be exposed to ANY kind of sexual practice. Unless I am having a major ESL issue here, I am kind of shocked that you even propose that.

In 1973 the American Psychiatric Association removed homosexuality (and lesbianism which then was listed under 'homosexuality') from their Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. For this year's general conference of the APA there is a platform proposal to recognize pedophilia as an 'alternate sexual practice' and not a 'deviant sexual practice' as it is currently listed.

Being Homophobic and/or opposed to Homosexuality in general doesn't make one Gay, but given recent outings of famous Homophobes, it seems more likely that such people are. I think it's probably because many are struggling against it, thus they make the struggle their focus. Quite common really.

We need to quit letting Ancient dictates control our lives. They were likely very progressive and beneficial ideas back then, but we have moved far beyond them.

Ah, ok. We just forget about the non-consenting minors. Ok!

FYI, pedophiles can live a very happy life without ever having sex with a child. So, in that way, just as being "straight", "gay" or "a-sexual", imho, it is just another sexual orientation. The moment that children are involved and abused, there is a problem. Before that, there is not.

Nobody, including gays say that. What the message is, is their sexual orientation is perfectly harmless to society. They are no more prone to committing the crime of 'pedophilia'(which now includes adolescents rather than just the original prepubescent children the term was used to cover) than a heterosexual. As for this 'perfectly normal' individual, that would be rare indeed.

For me, accusing you of being gay would be like accusing you of liking liver... I couldn't care less.

This is the proposal the APA is recommending to change the classification of pedophilia. No where can I find the exact wording where they want to 'normalize' sexual abuse of a minor. I have found an article where psychiatrists felt that if the act was consensual and it was not morally repugnant, it could be healthy. What that tells me is back in ancient Greece where sex with underage boys was morally acceptable and rape was not involved, the unions could be thought of as healthy. However, this is from a purely scientific point of view, the APA DOES NOT want to regress society to ancient Greece.
