But Cheney must be the first person since Germans in WWII who were afraid of us big bad Canadians.
The Germans feared your grandfathers.
You are predictable in your anti-Canadianisms when your feelings are hurt.

So Democrats in the USA are not friendly to Canada and then Canadians are not friendly to Republicans in the USA.
Next time you kids get f*cked on some trade dispute forgive me if I say you made your bed so lay in it.
I know it's not what you want to hear but it is pragmatically true. Canada needs to make some friends in the USA because that's what is in Canada's best interests.
Obama and the Democrats hate you right now because 1) you have oil and 2) you have Harper.
That you folks campaigned openly for the Democrats in the past three US national elections doesn't matter to these people.
That leaves making friends with the Republicans. It may not be your first choice but it is a pragmatic choice.
Fewer Morons in charge south of the Border is better for everyone.

I'm friends with people I actually like, not for what they can give me... and hope the feeling is mutual. Maybe countries should act the same way.

+1 on that. I didn't campaign for anyone last election, and I almost never even comment on US election subjects, unless it directly involves Canada. I stay out of their politics.
And that holds true for all my friends. They are my friends only because I want their company. If I want something from them, then it's business and I don't mix the two.
I don't think Obama hates us, so much as he doesn't give a rats ass about us. Apathy is the opposite of love, not hate. With all the half truths, lies and outright fearmongering that both Democrats and Republicans have had for Canada, I'm pretty apathetic right back.

The US generally cares about one thing and one thing only. They care about what's good for the US and f*ck anyone who stands in their way or disagrees. I'm tired of hearing we need to make friends in the US because it's in our best interests. What's in our best interest is for our governments and people to stand up for what's good for Canadians and not kowtowing to another country because it thinks it can push us around.
Cheney can be as afraid as he wants, we don't need or really want him here.

If he would have been allowed to shoot protesters in the face with his shotgun he might have come!

Anti-Canadian? Not at all. I'm anti-hide-your-head-in-the-sand, but not anti-Canadian.
The Canadians who were feared by the Nazis were a manly and tough lot who had no qualms about taking massive casualties and even fewer qualms about inflicting massive casualties.
Forgive me, but I don't see those kind of people in Canada or the USA these days. Quite the contrary, such men as our grandfathers would be hated these days.

No, as much as you wish to hide it, or rephrase it, or pretty it up, when your feelings are hurt, you drop anti-Canadian missives, usually in the form of these passive aggressive attacks on Canadians and their social values, or how you think they're wimpy, or how you imply they're sheep, etc.
It's an old reaction of yours seen over the years. Deny it if you wish, of course, but you certainly have no issues leaping to your fall back position of accusing posters here of anti-US sentiment for no particular reason.

That's a grotesque over-exaggeration. At some point you're going to have to admit that some ignorant utterances on the part of the dopiest extremes of the left do not represent either your country or my country as a whole. I doubt it even represents the barest single-digit minority either. Having no respect for Dick Cheney due to his legacy of warmongering and unjustifiable life-taking is in no way indicative of hatred for the United States or for the people in it's armed services.
I think the Iraq war was wrong. And I also think that the upcoming war on Iran will be as equally unjustifiable, will follow the same gimmicked "evidence" that led to the Iraq war, and will be the same fake Gulf Of Tonkin/"existential threat to the security of the United States" game of sheer bullshit that your right wing politicians and media creatures have been playing for the last fifty years. Saying this doesn't make me leftist. Or a hater. All it means is that I learned from the first time around and won't let the war salesmen, including the likes of Dick Cheney, ever fool me again.

Well, the joke here is that we're pulling out of Afghanistan--but we're driving out through Iran. Thing is, when you tell that joke, nobody laughs.
