There have been Muslims moving to Canada since before 1871 and it seems it's only now that they have become a problem (for some).

There has also always been the few brash loudmouths that have determined they are the only kind of immigrants worthy and anyone new and different is unworthy.

Personally, I think that immigrants who are unaccepting of others are a bigger threat to coexistance than the immigrant who take a generation or two to really fit in and who would probably fit in much quicker if they didn't have the opposition they find when arriving here.

Correct. I see none of them trying to force others to adopt to their culture but simply people who have been told that Canada is a land of freedom of religion and choice simply exercising that right.

Immigrants aren't demanding we accommodate them any more then accommodating their religious beliefs as much as we accommodate those already established.

Europe is waking up to the fact that official multicult. is a failure, that encouraging people to live apart while demanding that their host country changes for them, doesn't work.

We don't have the same demographics that Europe has so maybe we can learn from their mistakes, as Europe is finding that tolerance is not a two way street for many countries/people, that by bending over backwards to accommodate demands of a particular group only encourages more of the same.

People use our lack of knowledge of their religion as a way of promoting their own agenda and some of us help them out. Not me though.

I have no problem with different cultures and religions, but keep it at home. I am not telling the school here to celebrate Sinterklaas or put up a Dutch flag on Queensday. That is my business, not yours.
