lily lily:
You really have trouble with simple tasks, don't you?

"Because it's against their religion" or "because they voted that way" aren't good enough. Those are non-answers.

But I understand. You can't come up with a good reason to ban SSMs. No worries. I knew right from the start you couldn't.

Lily you are dense, that’s the way democracy works unlike the POS charter we have. People get to vote in senators, judges, and weather or not queers get to marry. Simple as that, now stop asking stupid questions.

simjanes2k simjanes2k:
If that sort of thing is common here, perhaps you're correct, I should find another site. It seems like I am the only conservative here anyway.

Why is it that when the extreme left or the extreme right get proven wrong on the forum they pout, say they are the only conservative/liberal on the forum and run home?

simjanes2k simjanes2k:
Nevertheless, I will attempt to continue for now.

The Declaration of Independence, our Constitution, our National Anthem, and the Pledge of Allegiance all reference our being "under god" or with some reference to God. I would think that even Canadians would understand that the Protestant vs. Catholic thing was one of the major reasons for separation in the first place. So we are a Christian country.

Fail. No actually the founding fathers were secularists, and were neither protestant or catholic. In fact many despised organized religion, but they enjoyed the right to live a persons life how ever they wished. So they felt freedom of religion should be a basic right. The United States being a Christian country is relatively new, and is nothing close to what the founding fathers wanted.

simjanes2k simjanes2k:
We have had laws for over 200 years that are based on Christian morals, and just yesterday we enacted bans on events that we consider wrong for whatever reason, and I think we've established that religion is that reason. So we have Christian laws.

Right, and we are saying that this is wrong, and it should not be put to a vote.
Telling someone you cant do that because you are gay, black, ect is WRONG.

simjanes2k simjanes2k:
The good reason that you keep asking for is right here and does not require that ANY of us think for ourselves. It is too obvious. SSMs should be banned in California because the people voted on it and don't want them. That's it! That is called democracy. If you don't like the laws in an area, find another area or campaign to have the laws changed. That's how the system works, and that's how we like it, for the most part.

That was the same system that eventually gave us women and blacks voting, through the Supreme Court. That is the same system that decides how we would interpret Roe vs. Wade in our localities. It is literally the most fair system to a majority of people that can possible exist at this time.

Segregation and emancipation was not brought about by public referendum on the issue.

To say something is right because the majority of people feel its right, DOES NOT MAKE IT RIGHT. Because the mob wants a lynching does not make it right to do so.

Good point! Odor definately plays a factor, colour I'm not so sure. Is it just a "poop" of it's pale and it doesn't even steam when it hits the ground?

Gonna try to take these one at a time here, quoting is getting ugly up ins!

First, the reason people "run home" is very likely because not many people like to make a point alone and have however many people tell them they are wrong, with no like-minded individuals to feel camaraderie with.

Second, this country was founded as Christian. Our documents all say it, evidence shows that the majority of the founding fathers were not only Christians, but were even ordained or had graduated from a seminary. Our laws all reflect Christian values, with very few and very notable exceptions. This really isn't debatable. Whip out a set of laws that have been around forever and are still enforced, and the majority are based on a Christian value set, rather than atheist or muslim or taoist. Dig up all the atheist stories of "Founding Fathers: Not Christian!" you want, I've read them all. They don't claim anything more conclusively than the religious nuts who swear they were all Bible-thumpers. What's in front of our eyes is clear. A country that wished to be truly secular would not include the name of God in every document they put ink to paper on, nor would they create laws that enforce their values.

Your quote: "Telling someone you cant do that because you are gay, black, ect is WRONG."

Again, why do you get to tell us what is wrong, instead of us deciding for ourselves and voting on it? That is not democracy. Get out the dictionary and look for yourself... one person deciding what is right and wrong and who can do what, against the will of the people, is a dictator. The USA is not keen on becoming that.

Your argument for lynching is a bit boggling. No one was murdered, for starters. It's an administrative decision with emotional and economic consequence, not fatal. Legislation is enacted because the majority says it should be, period. Whether it's done by an elected official or by our personal votes, it is decided by the majority, always.

You are also not noticing any distinction between man and woman marriage, and gay marriage. Christians do. Just because you do not does not make you correct, nor does it make them wrong. Since you disagree on it, something must be done. In this case, the thing that must be done when one of two groups must have something bad happen (can't marry vs. devalue a tradition), is to let the majority decide. That way the fewest people are upset. But someone always will still be mad.

I don't know a few of you guys are pro-gay or anti-democratic, but it's really a new point of view that I'm not used to defending. We vote on things. That's what we do.

Whew! You guys tire me out. I hope someone can read through all the wordy crap I throw out here. :p I'll be glad to hear other people's opinion anytime, as well. Nice change of pace from defending people I disagree with.

Have you ever heard of the treaty of tripoli (you are a pretty sad agnostic if you have not), here is a link you should read, if the treaty is not enough for you.

Then why are you not outraged when you cannot personally vote on every bill that is proposed? Denying the right, that is enjoyed for the rest of society, to a specific group do to gender, race, or creed is not right. That is the basic gist of the constitution isnt it?

Right so if the majority feels homosexuals should have to register, and carry identification cards saying they are gay, that would be cool right?

Personally I see myself as pro equal rights, and you say it devalues tradition, singing Happy Birthday is tradition, excluding someone from a right that everyone else in the country enjoys is not a tradition.

It’s not a right, stop saying that, fuck you’re dumb as a bag of hammers.

If it’s such a right, why is it not in the charter?

Maybe we should dig up PET and ask why a big Liberal like him didn’t place marriage as a right in our great toilet paper charter.

Even the UN says it’s not a right. So stop using the term as it is.

Tell that to the MOB.
Some lynchings are well deserved. Self righteous BS often prevents what is the right thing to do.
We have "tricked" ourselves out of doing what is right under many circumstances because of politically correct group think. Capital punishment is one of those right things to do under certain circumstances. The Chinese do it on a regular basis just to get the crap/shit out of way and NOT as a deterrent.

I'm not noticing any differences because I really don't see any.

Whoa, Biology 101 is missing in your curriculum vitae.
