$1: People also reported they used "machine guns" so I wonder if they were illegally converted to full auto. Someone is under investigation for supplying the guns to the shooters.
Most people, especially the media report everything that looks like as a machine gun though. I thought I heard that his wife was Pakistani living in Saudi and he went there to marry her after meeting online.

SUV was a rental, rented locally. 1600 rounds in the car, 2500 at home, along with 12 pipe bombs and equipment for a factory. All Aqaida stuff. So, of course it is only a workplace violence incident. I guess they were planning something bigger, then got distracted by going full jihadi over pigs in a blanket. Or Christmas trees, he got triggered by the trees.

BartSimpson BartSimpson: * The media keeps reporting the weapons as Ar-15 and Ak-47. The pictures of the one weapon clearly show an Ak with it's typical banana magazine as opposed to the straight mag of an Ar.
I'm out. Confirmed that the attackers were using .223 caliber so probably was the AR-15 after all. Although, the AK-101 is a Kalashnikov that fires 5.56 mm so that's a remote possibility.

You can get the AR-15 and AK-47 chambered in just about any caliber you want. Just because it's .223 does not mean it's an AR-15.

Understood, but some outlets have been reporting AR-15 the whole time

BeaverFever BeaverFever: BRAH BRAH: This has nothing to do with gun culture it's a terrorist attack. Even if turns out to be terrorist-motivated, the guns were legally purchased. Why should it be so easy for Isalmists to legally purchase assault weapons and go on a rampage? I note that one authority (FBI perhaps) said it may be a combination of Islamist and workplace violence. That is, the motive may not have been to wage jihad in America or punish infidels for actions in the middle east like the Tsarnaev brothers, but instead to avenge some kind of perceived insult that his co-workers/employer committed against his religion. Like maybe they told him it's fucking disgusting for a food inspector to have a full beard. Or maybe when he was at the party earlier he got angry because the Xmas party was too Christian themed and there was no halal food. Or maybe he asked for a pastrami on rye and they brought him roast beef on whole wheat instead. I guess only time will tell. I don't expect we'll have to wait too long. Yep, what's more, he bought the 2 handguns himself. Also, the confirmation seems to be in: $1: San Bernardino shooter Syed Rizwan Farook was in touch over the phone and via social media with more than one international terrorism subject who the FBI were already investigating, law enforcement officials said.
It appears that Farook was radicalized, which contributed to his motive, though other things — like workplace grievances — may have also played a role, other law enforcement sources said.

Understood, but some outlets have been reporting AR-15 the whole time Most news reporters wouldn't know the difference. My lack of confidence in them is rarely unjustified.

BeaverFever BeaverFever: Yep, what's more, he bought the 2 handguns himself. NRA membership ? $1: Officials said the two assault rifles were variants of the AR-15, the semiautomatic version of the military M-16 rifle; one was made by DPMS Panther Arms, and the other was a Smith & Wesson M&P model, a designation meaning military and police. The senior law enforcement official said one handgun was made by Llama, and the other by Smith and Wesson http://mobile.nytimes.com/2015/12/04/us ... google.ca/

Delwin Delwin: NRA membership ? NRA Membership is not a prerequisite of buying a firearm in the USA. The NRA is a private organization, much like the ACLU.
