Animal deaths at the Stampede are not a normal or regular occurance. At Michael Vick's house at least one dog ended up dead everytime the gangsta boys got together for beers, fights, and ho's. All the wishy-washy equivalency by the Pam Anderson types should kinda stop right there.

Even Pam could calculate that 50 dead horses in 26 years makes it a pretty normal occurrence. And she would likely point out there's plenty of beer, fights and ho's at the Stampede. Good ole boys gotta let off a bit of steam and all.

Gladiators? That's a bit of a stretch. Thoughts on dog fighting then?

Missed this.
Is the stampede the same as what happened with Michal Vic basement? I guess. The only more equivalency here is that one is culturally acceptable. Like the seal hunt for example.

I'm all for the clubbing of furry rats that are called seals, just because they are cute doesn't mean they are not a pest that require a cull. However, there is the same stigma to the clubbing of seals as there is to dog fights and cock fights. That never carried over to the stampede because it has been state sponsored and above board. Also, unlike the running of the bulls in Spain it's not seen as just a lark but as a cavalcade for an industry just like the price is right is a showcase for consumerism the stampede is showcasing the livestock industry so it has a purpose.

When it comes down to it, it's just business. Nothing more. Dog fighting isn't supporting an industry, the stampede is.

Dog fights could support an industry, however.

For a man who makes moral equivalency comparisons all the time with things he does not like, I thought you might appreciate the approach.

Why be cruel to dogs?

Let's take the guys on death row, put them in an arena with medieval weapons and let them fight to the death with the last man standing getting a pardon and a one-way trip to Argentina. That would be entertaining in more ways than one.

I'd be thrilled if they just executed them in a timely manner. :|

Didn't you make up a thread recently where you said you'd try harder not to be such a cranky ol' grouch?

Guess it didn't take to you, eh?

Yeah sorry, every so often I forget myself when some Beckian missive comes about.

Moreover, if you consider that cranky, you need to thicken that skin of yours.....a lot.

Unsound Unsound:
Not quite sure I see the connection between a spider web and the labour intensive raising of cucumbers and tomotoes without any of the advantages of the last century's technology advances.

Oh, you meant "organic produce." I thought you meant "organic" in general. My bad. Take a look at the movie Food Inc some timme. You may comme to appreciate a little inefficiency.

Dog fighting is big over here. As far as I can tell, all the dogs are stray, unless it's a fighting dog. They're not pit bulls there--they're bigger, lankier animals. Haven't seen a single Afghan Hound either. WTF is that all about?

How about those crocheted Afghan blankets?
