What if this argument was on a hypothetical religious practice of removing everyone’s tonsils at birth? Lots of benefits and risks there too.
Who would support cutting out another “useless” organ that has the potential of making us sick later in life if not removed? What if it was the appendix?
The whole argument that it’s harmless, or may have some benefits applies to both of those procedures as well. I doubt many people would support either of those operations though.
