Heavy_Metal Heavy_Metal:
While i do see where you ladies are coming from I believe a soldiers death does deserve more, when a soldier dies from combat action, they died for Canada and Canadians. No matter what the political or ethical reasoning behind why they were sent there is, the truth of the matter and what is on every soldiers mind is that they are fighting for the person on their right and left, and the people at home.

In Lily and Brenda's defence this is not about soldiers, they've stated that and made it clear. So let's not make this about soldiers it's about memorials.

It never was really a closed topic...

Gunnair, the fact that the child died in uniform is not important. At least not more important than any other child that died. I wish you guys would understand that every dead child is terrible. But we only want it visibly remembered when it was a soldier. Then it's ok. If it died in a car crash, or still at birth, no-one would care. The memorial in the yard would be ridiculed. Can you hear it? "oh come on, girl, it's been 2 years since your "miscarriage", shouldn't you be over it now?"

That's a pretty tall assumption you've made... no one caring that is.

The only outcry you hear, the front page news, is when it's a soldiers grave that is desecrated.
Where is the news about the "normal people"'s graves? The same shit happens there. It is just not front page news. Makes you wonder why...

A soldier is a "normal" person.

As far as graves being vandalized, that happens regularily by fucking degenerates, and is VERY disturbing.

The situation here is a flag a lady had flying (proudly may I add) on her lawn was taken and burned, slightly different than retards vandalizing a final resting place, though no less or more forgivable in my books.

poquas poquas:

Yes. The world is coming to an end and the likes of you will save us all. Idiot.

Your "gutless pukes" shouldn't have "desecrated" the flag.

The mother should have taken into account the feelings of her neighbours.

That pretty much covers it.

I personally would have no sympathy if you ever got banned here. You are just spewing out pure disrespect and hatred and bullshit.

He never said the world was coming to a end, but our soldiers are defending the citizens of this country and others as they are fighting a terrorist organization who has launched many terrorist ops across the globe in many countries always targeting and killing civilians. We are fighting the Taliban because they were/are protecting the terrorists who are responsable for this act of terrorism.

That is why we originally entered Afghanistan, now we are there to rebuild a broken country so there citizens can have a future and further more they want it. Most of them don't join the ranks of the taliban if at all any of them. Majority of the taliban recruits come down from pakistan. Afghanistan loves the fact we build schools, hospitals, roads and many other things for them. They love the ability to send there kids to school and able to get treated at a hospital.

There basics of life is being upgraded to a point of a basic civilization and they love it. All they hate is the fact that there country is used as a battlefield and it's a warzone. However that is why we are training there army, police and government so when we leave they can continue our efforts and keep the taliban at bay from crossing over from pakistan and can have there own sense of security.

Further more, all the mother did was build herself a memorial for her fallen son on her OWN property. She put up a Canadian Flag and put up a picture of her son. Why does she have to take into account the feelings of the neighbours and why would that upset neighbours? Also in the article the neighbours had no problem with it, infact was very upset by the desecration of the memorial.

Pull your idiotic, unpatriotic, disrespectful head out of your ass please.

Am I the only one who thinks something like this belongs in the backyard or the house? Somewhere a little more private and personal?

No, I also agree with you. Keeping it in such a publicly visible location for so long is in poor taste.

So how long should a memorial be placed on someone's front lawn?

It's private property, why should anyone worry about how long its there ?

If you paint your house neon pink, should you be required to change
after a number of years ?

Pull your head out of your ass, fucking conspiracy theorist.
Yeah heaven forbid boots on the ground in a country whose "government" permitted terrorists to come and go freely, and plan and launch attacks against the West. Funny how since we've been there North America only needs to worry about High School students "terrorizing" their schools, or gutless pukes desecrating our flag.

I'm flattered, but I don't swing that way, dude. Go fixate on someone who might return the, uh, favour.

You know - some army guy.

Better question do you think it should be our business?
