My experience in Richmond is I am not sure about the no service for whitey but there are areas where white Canadians do face a form racism from the older generation of Chinese immigrants.

My biggest problem living over there was Chinese driving. It used to be funny when they'd say something rude in Mandarin and you answered them back in Mandarin.

Thing is, I found friends over there would do even more for you than friends here would. Better to friends, worse to strangers was the general rule. Over there,my friends referred to me as guh guh or da guh. Which meant brother or big brother...sometimes followed by 圆眼.

As for service for whitey, when the stores are plastered with chinese signage, none in english, that's not too welcoming a situation. Neither is us going into a chinese restaurant where the menus were in Chinese only and none of the staff spoke English. To bring this up, of course, is racist on my part, while Thanos' whining about how whites are being displaced in Canada, that's just speaking the truth.

I heard about that and not surprising which might change with the possible decline of foreign buyers. A Chinese restaurant isn't for me though Richmond does have issues when it comes to drivers.

These aren't foreign buyers who leave their condos empty. as the article says, these are older people who have never learned english and took over the condo board. Foreign buyers might have distorted the housing market, but they're not the ones living here and trying to turn it into their home country. It's what's wrong with an immigration system that seems to bring in huge masses of people all from the same culture/country at one time, so that immigrants never feel the pressure to actually integrate.

Also has nothing to do with racism - if we were flooded with Swedes who all insist on only speaking Swedish I would feel the same way.
