$1:
The near-fatal beating of a 17-year-old Palestinian Arab by a mob of dozens of Israeli Jews was explained in purely racial terms by a 15-year-old suspect in the attack.

“For my part he can die, he’s an Arab,” the suspect told reporters as he left court Monday. “If it was up to me I’d have murdered him. He cursed my mother.”

Eyewitnesses say about 40 young Israelis, egged on by a 15-year-old girl, chased four Arab youths, shouting racial insults and “Death to Arabs” at them

Violence against Arabs has been increasing. Just the day before the Jerusalem attack, a firebomb was thrown at a Palestinian taxi driving near Bethlehem, injuring the six passengers and the driver. The police called it a “Jewish nationalist attack.”

There has been such an increase that a U.S. State Department report labels such Jewish violence against Arabs “terrorism,” a catchphrase in Israel that is rarely applied to Jews.

Another one getting excercise by jumping to conclusions.

I don't recall anyone (ever) saying innocent casualties in these conflicts are of no concern.

Wow. Israel has been under an almost daily assault by the Arabs since 1949 and it's taken the Jews all that time to get to where they're this angry at the Arabs?

My question is what took them so long?

And by "daily assault" you mean constantly encroaching on more Palestinian land while bombing the crap out of settlements? Must be nice for you, (or just really gross to the rest of us) having one's head so firmly up one's rear that they're convinced that their own s**t is fresh air.

tut tut tut, such a potty mouth for a noob.

btw, your map is full of lies.

the first one shows privately owned Jewish land, and the rest as pali,
but it doesnt show the difference between privately owned and 'state' land,
a rather unfair comparison.

second one shows something that never happened; the Arabs rejected it and
started a war over it. And they lost, but I'm sure you've forgotten about that.

I could go on, but I won't keep you from your own delusions.

Israel needs to tell the settlers, you are on your own in a foreign country. Don't expect the IDF to intervene. The border may shift somewhat, but many settlements need to be dismantled by Israel. Now the Israelis can also say...we're taking back land in eastern Jerusalem that was stolen from Jews in 1948, and there will be no right of return.

I don't believe it, we actually agree. But, no way Israel would stand by if the Palestinians attacked the settlements. And what about all the infrastructure that Israel has built on Palestinian land, wells, special highways, etc etc - they'd have to give that up too.

Both sides are so entrenched, I don't see a good outcome here. I bitch more about the Israelis because I still harbor some hope they could make the first move - the luxury of being the upper dog allows you that.

This would be a much more interesting story if the headline was written by a dsylexic editor and said "Jewish man arrested for bringing his God..." Of course it wouldn't be able to match "God bites man" for impact.

No, the IDF should intervene if a settlement is attacked, but only so it can be evacuated. As for infrastructure, the Israelis left behind all the infrastructure in Gaza...not in the Sinai so much. Green houses and other things you mentioned, left behind in the Gaza Strip, was destroyed by the Palestinians, rather than taken over by the barbarians and used to benefit their own people. As for making the first move, Israel was willing to concede almost all the palestinians demanded back in the 90s, but Yasser Arafat shit all over the offers lending credence to the Abba Eban quote,'The Arabs never miss an opportunity to miss an opportunity'. As for being an accepting society I refer again to the content Arab Israeli population(not Palestinian Arabs as some seem to think).

It's funny. I got to know quite a few Palestinian Christians and all they did was bitch about how poorly they were treated by the Muslims. When I asked why they didn't try closser relations with the Israelis, they'd look aghast and reply 'Oh no! We have to stand with our Arab brothers. When I pointed out that there were Christian and Muslim Arabs who were loyal Israeli citizens, all I'd get was some mumbled Arab excuse.

It really seemed odd coming from those who were serious Bible bangers. Israel has to be restored before the Messiah will return. They believe that since some of them(25%) are descendants of the hebrews/Jews who never left(the diaspora was really only applied to the families in control, rebels and the ultra religious. Most rural Jews stayed where they had always lived) and who converted to Christianity and Islam and later intermarried with the Arabs. They explained that they, being the inheritors of the Jews, would fulfil the prophecy if they had their own state, as they would constitute a spiritual rebirth of Isral/Judea.

difference being the targetting. The terrorists intenionally strike buses, schools, hotels and fastfood stands and hope for maximum casualties amongst the civilians. Meanwhile, they intenionally imbed themselves in dense civilian populations and structures(that UN school was an excellent example) and attack civilian targets in israel knowing they'll get a response. They actually hope for massive collateral damage amongst their own, for the PR and sympathy. The IDF usually goes out of their way to minimize collateral damage, which is extremely difficult in Gaza. Destroying a single office housing terrorists out of an entire building, or one or two cars, carrying terrorists and supplies, in grid lock is the usual IDF reponse. Israeli hospitals, with some of the best trauma wards in the world will also treat those Arabs who have been injured, especially the young.....many of whom are dragged by their parents into confrontations with the IDF.
