Stratos "sphere"
We left the discusion on my previous comment long ago. We are all a happy family now. Please continue with positive contribution. Also,no one should have anything negative to say about Argentina on this Canadian site. Argentina has no spat with Canada. Canadian companies are making hungreds of millions on mining and agricultural ventures in Argentina that create thousands Canadian jobs, so some respect please.

So now you feel you can dictate what is said by members of this site "Also,no one should have anything negative to say about Argentina on this Canadian site." Why should we not? If anyone feels that a negative comment should be made must we run it by you first to gain your approval?
"Canadian companies are making hungreds of millions on mining and agricultural ventures in Argentina that create thousands Canadian jobs, so some respect please."
So basically you feel that you can come here demand that people bow down to you and Argentina, if not it's disrespectful? Exactly how have I been disrespectful? Also how does Canadian companies making money via mining and agriculture deal with Argentina building a nuke sub, talk about off topic.

More likely the sub will be used to give a quick escape for the some Gov. official after he's looted the country of billions of dollars worth of currency. He will then threaten to use the sub on Argentina if he is not given assurances that he will not be prosecuted and a villa in France or some other place.

It would be more accurate to put it like this.

Canadian companies are investing hundreds of millions in mining and agricultural ventures in Argentina that create thousands of Argentine jobs.

Oh yes,the russians have nuclear powered ice breakers. Mostly operationg in the Arctic carrying cargo between the North Russian sea ports and Scandinavian sea ports. I am glad you brought this up. One candidate Argentine vessel to be fitted with nuclear propulson is an ice breaker that is to be built at the Rio Santiago shipyard in Buenos Aires and it is to operate side by side the current conventional ice breaker Almirante Irizar.

Almirante Irizar

Ummmm your ice breakers are navy vessels, not merchant ships. ROTFL
Russian ice breakers are navy vessels, not merchant ships.
Ice breakers are strategic assets, not commercial assets.
And JPEGS aren't proof of shit.

Nonsence, no arrogance here on part of Argentina. Only the result of many years of British intransigance and non compliance to UN resolution 2065

I don't see why anyone should critisize Argentina for building a nuclear sub.

Probably because it seen as unnecessary and with an ulterior motive behind it.

Not really. The mining corp I work for has Argentine operations (among others).

Those operations employ many more locals than Canadians.

That's entirely the fault of Argentina. Resolution 2065 came into effect in 1965. The UK participated in negotiations for 17 years, ending in 1982 for reasons not the responsibility of the UK.

Whose responsibility then? Argentina?
Not true. There were signs that this matter was headed towards a confrontation as early as 1976. The UK was always uncooperative, showed no commitment to comply, especially after there were reports of possible oil in the area. In erly 1982 they told Argentina at the UN that they were not going to negotiate any sovereignty settlement and walked out. A series of events that went out of control and the whaling station incident in South Georgia was the spark that set off the confrontation.

You are trying to use the idea that Argentina has control of the Falklands

for 15 years out of the previous 300 ?

Talk about grasping at straws.
