Only about 10 - 15% of the world's population considers itself to be non religious. Then there are those who characterize themselves as being spiritual, but not religious. Ok I'll admit you got me there it's really about 1.1 billion according to most of the data I went and had a look at after you posted this but it's still seriously I stand by that the vast majority of the sane world is shaking their head at Islam and Hardcore Christians and eventually it's very possible people will put their foot down.

And most of the sane world is comprised of people who have a religious belief, yet are quite able to keep it to themselves.

I would hazard a guess that amongst those 600 million or so non believers you would find some(about a comparable percentage to the religious fanatics) who are fanatical in their beliefs(political or otherwise) who have engaged in pogroms against those with religious beliefs. Many communist movements/regimes being a good example of this sort of behaviour.
