EyeBrock EyeBrock:
Lemmy, I have a pretty good grasp of the English language. Please explain this that you said:

$1:
"EyeBrock noted how Muslims are becoming more segregated and fundamentalist in Britain. Why is that? Maybe it's because of the racist ridicule that's growing against them."

Your words.

Now how else would/could a Brit look at that?
.

Well, if you had grasp of the language, you'd see that, first, I used the word "maybe", a word that sometimes evokes speculation. Next, I was speaking of a particular SNL bit, which may or may not haved aired in Britain, I don't know. Next, I spoke of a general wave of anti-Muslim sentiment after 9-11. Is some of that felt in Britain? I would say so, given their involvement in Iraq.

EyeBrock EyeBrock:
You are pointing the finger of 'racist ridicule' at Brits and I'm calling on you to prove it.

Bullshit. I never said any such thing. YOU said Muslims in Britains were becoming less integrated and more fundamentalist. I was ASKING, not STATING, if that may be because of the WORLD WIDE ANTI-MUSLIM SENTIMENT AFTER 9-11.

EyeBrock EyeBrock:
Seeing as though you visited the UK 'many' times you must be an expert on it's culture.
So explain your true meaning beyond the post as I'm missing it.
It looks like plain English saying "British racism is to blame for radical Islam in the UK" to me.

I was asking for reason why Muslims in Britain might be becoming more fundamentalist and more segregated post-911. I was questioning if this was a reaction to increased hatred against their entire religion; all Muslims. I never said a word about British racism. Btw, I am an expert on Scottish history and culture and I know the differnce between "its" and "it's".

Lemmy, I think you will find the reluctance of Muslims to integrate in Britain
was well under way before 9-11.

That event probably highlighted it, and accelerated it.

I'm also pretty sure Eyebrock is taking exception to the idea that
Christian Brits are somehow responsible for the radicalisation of Muslim Brits..

We all know thats not true, fundamentalist Muslims have been around since before
the Crusades.

Probably. I don't know. I never said I did. EyeBrock said it was happening. I wondered why. I sugggested, perhaps, that things like the DeNiro bit, should that sort of thing be going on in Britain as it is here in North America, might contribute. Maybe not. Maybe the Muslims are closing ranks for some other reason.

[

The idea that Christian Brits are responsible for any recent radicalization of Muslim Brits are words that were put in my mouth, not my own. In fact, I (+) repped EyeBrock because I agreed with him on the very points that he's taking issue with me about now (which is a new experience for me on CKA and clear indication that he has some English language difficulties. :P ) So, this is a case of a guy who's looking for a disagreement and bringing a beef with me from another thread here rather than reading what I'm saying.

edited for misuse of quotes.

Nope, you are wrong Lemmy. I don't hold a grudge because of silly posts you have made on other things.

On this, you either inadvertently used the 'racist ridicule' thing in a way that caused me offence, or you believe that stuff.

Either way, your message was communicated in such away that I saw it as offensive and others saw why.

I don't want to get into a shit-fight with you but I think you should consider your words before you post.
This is one of many times when you have made comments that have been misconstrued. Remember, it’s how your message is received that matters.

I still don’t hold any grudge, I’ll just challenge your viewpoint when I think you are wrong. Debate and all that!

Oh and on it's and its, you are right, now just try and work on the delivery of your quotes such as "all cops are dickheads" and that "Brits MAYBE subject Muslims in the UK to racist ridicule."

Or did you just make a minor grammatical error on those posts?

Glass houses mate.

Look, dude, I can only apologize when I make mistakes. I can't apologize when others misinterpret what I say. I made no grammatical errors...you drew incorrect conclusions.

No probs! Knowing you are half-Scottish explains it all! No disrespect intended! I'm half Irish.......Mum and Dad were from Cork and Dublin respectively. That's why I like to fight!

It's even worse than that: all Scottish, actually...Dad's from Beauly, near Inverness and Mom's from Methil, East Fife, right across the Firth bridge from Edinburgh.

Gunnair.... Well you're going to have to explain your "Did you type 'When in Rome' with a BQ logo in your profile" comment.. What does my having a bloc logo have to do with the comment " when in Rome.. I was referring to Canada as a whole... we should ban burkas everywhere in Canada. end of story..
