We made it through the weekend without the Norks setting off their nuke test. Maybe all of the military might surrounding them talked some sense into them.

Reports are that the US is sending two more carriers to Korean waters. While the article says this totals three carriers it may yet be four given that the Ike is supposed to be there as well.

It's hypocritical watching the U.S. Left melting down over Trump doing what he has to.

So, the media is criticizing the President, therefor start a war. Does a nice war make a great distraction? Bill Clinton in trouble over Monica Lewinsky? Attack Iraq: Operation Desert Fox. Trump has learned the President has limits. There are a lot of things he can't do. But war is an area where the President has vast authority. So feeling powerless? Go attack someone. And the media can be distracted by a bright shiny object. President in trouble? Send 59 Tomahawk missiles at $1.85 million each to an airbase in Syria. That price is for block IV in 2017 dollars according to Wikipedia. That adds up to $109.15 million that could have made America great again. So now he's sending multiple aircraft carriers to North Korea? You realize they don't threaten anyone. They have said if America invades, they'll fight back. That's all. They won't initiate an attack, only fight back. So why threaten them?

Syria. Now North Korea. Trump complained the world is a mess, but he's making it worse. He promised to make America great again, but he's making it worse.

North Korea has committed offensive actions against South Korea before. Generally they are minor; an artillery strike here or a sunk ship there. However, they have demonstrated the resolve to strike first in the name of "defence." If they are allowed to continue expanding their arsenal unabated, chances are this trend will continue. This means they will commit more devestating strikes against South Korea, and may even develop the resolve to strike Japan and the USA as the technology to do so become available.

So, why wait for them to strike first, again?

So, who invaded Iraq in 2003? Who just attacked Syria? Libya 2011? You realize that same argument could be made of the US.

Same reason we don't lock people up for things they haven't done yet.

We do that all the time. If someone has a firearm and they mindlessly threaten people with it does law enforcement sit around on their asses waiting for someone to get killed or do they go in and neutralize the threat?

Lots of would-be terrorists are in prison for the things they said they wanted to do, too.

North Korea is no different. They have nukes and the means to use them and they keep threatening damned near everyone with apocalyptic threats and sooner or later they might make good on them.

It was different back when the best they could do was to toss arty across the DMZ. Now they can hit major cities in Asia and possibly the US & Canada, too.

Time to call in the SWAT team to deal with the crazy guy who has a nuke.

Sounds like the Soviet Union, or Nazi Germany. Sure this is the country you want to live in?

I'm tempted to post a link to stories I've seen on facebook. Guns of a gun collector seized by police. The collector did not threaten anyone, he was just a collector and the guns were licensed. I would think you would be against that.

Daily Caller News Foundation

Ryan Pickrell on April 18, 2017

North Korea appears to be testing a new anti-ship ballistic missile (ASBM) as the U.S. Navy prepares to put pressure on the regime.

The North Korean ballistic missile tested Sunday was likely a KN-17, a new type of Scud, U.S. defense officials told Fox News Monday. The missile tested before President Donald Trump’s meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping may have also been one of the new weapons. Both missiles failed, exploding shortly after launch at Sinpo.

The missiles being tested are believed to be single-stage, liquid-fueled, anti-ship missiles, and the missiles appear to have been present in North Korea’s military parade Saturday.

The missile has fins around the nose cone, indicating that the North Koreans are experimenting with terminal phase maneuverability observes Ankit Panda, an editor for The Diplomat. He assesses that the weapon might function to a certain extent like a Korean version of China’s DF-21D ASBM, commonly referred to as a “carrier killer.”

The U.S. Navy carrier strike group is making its way towards waters off Korea. The USS Carl Vinson will be returning to the area after participating in joint military drills last month. While North Korea’s ASBM ambitions predate the U.S. Navy’s strategic plans, the timing of the tests is noteworthy. Numerous reports indicated the Vinson was already around the peninsula at the time of the test. However, new reports claim the aircraft carrier is near Indonesia. There is a slight possibility that North Korea may have been responding to early reports.

North Korea’s ASBM program is still in its infancy as the fact that the missiles continue to explode during tests proves. The North has several short-range anti-ship cruise missiles in its arsenal, which were also paraded Saturday. The weapons are carried on Transporter Erector Launchers (TELs) and are believed to be based on the Russian Kh-35.

In a conflict, the North would still be reliant on its cruise missiles and other weapons systems.

North Korea has tested two new ballistic missiles this year — the KN-15 (Pukguksong-2), a three-stage, solid-fueled mid-range missile tested February, and the KN-17.

The Trump administration is determined to bring an end to North Korean weapons testing, but Pyongyang refuses to back down. “We’ll be conducting more missile tests on a weekly, monthly and yearly basis,” North Korean Vice Foreign Minister Han Song-Ryol told BBC Monday.
