BRAH BRAH: It didn't take the Left long to use this tragedy to bitch about the Confederate Flag causing a censorshop Tsunami. In th e remake of the Dukes of hazzard, it was the stars and Bars that added one of the funniest scenes in the movie.......Hillbillies? we prefer the term Appalachian-American

ShepherdsDog ShepherdsDog: Silliness.....the same silly buggers that claim the civil war was fought solely over the issue of slavery. Pity actually that the history, politics, and pathologies that came out of the American South are going to control the direction of the United States forever, just as apparently the entire world is going to be forever controlled by the history, politics, and pathologies that come out of the Middle East and Israel. This is why human beings will always walk on all fours, no insult to animals intended. We're just not capable of ever thinking we deserve better than to not be perpetually controlled by those unable to ever get along with anybody else.

DrCaleb DrCaleb: BRAH BRAH: It didn't take the Left long to use this tragedy to bitch about the Confederate Flag causing a censorshop Tsunami. The 'Left' didn't corrupt it into a racist icon. Many such symbols, including religious ones, have been corrupted by these low IQ wastes of skin. It's not about 'censorship' either. It's about removing the power that racists think they have. You can't even go around anymore wearing bedsheets and cone hats anymore without someone shouting 'racist!'. {/sarcasm} The Left wants the flag banned and now everyone is caving, that's censorship the ironic thing is the Left was the founding party of the KKK and had well known members via Robert Byrd. What's next to be banned Doctor Who because an episode offened a Leftist Whiner?

As evidenced bt the fact that once the democrats made support for Civil Rights a party policy, The South has been Republican ever since. And don't forget Uber republican Strom Thurmond who was not only an unrepentant segregationist (as opposed to Byrd who repented) who even in recent years refused to apologize, but whose family were prominent slave owners up to the end.

The governor who is pushing to take the flag down is Republican - hardly left. Makes no sense anyway to fly the flag at a government building celebrating a bunch of losers who rebelled against the US. Leave the flag for the rednecks.

The democrats were not a left wing party at the time? Thats news to me. Why don't you articulate some of the extreme right wing views that they held at the time for us? That would be interesting. Of course they were left wing, they always have been. Uber republican storm Thurmond? Strom Thurmond was elected to the Senate in 1954 as a democrat. He ran for President in 1948 as the States Rights Democratic Party candidate. When the 1948 National Democtatic Convention added a civil rights plank to their platform, 35 southern delegates walked out. They formed their own branch of the democrat party, and nominated Strom as their candidate. Ironically the republican party and candidate Governor Dewey supported civil rights. To this day the longest filibuster held in the Senate belongs to Strom Thurmond with his filibustering of the civil rights act of 1957 as a democrat. Strom did not become a republican until 1964. Trying to put this on the right is a crock. Own up and take your lumps. The fact of the matter is a whole lot of lefties chose racism and segregation over their ideals. They sold out. They turned their backs on their beliefs and everything that they stood for just to keep the black man down. That is a fact.

That's true. Until JFK and LBI passed the civil rights act and voting rights act respectively. Then all the democrats who still liked Jim Crow jumped ship to the Republican Party who were then courted by Nixon.

When the racist elements of the Democratic party abandon it for the Republicans after civil rights, that doesn't exactly say good things about the Republicans, now does it.

Yeah Which is why there were slave states in the Union, and many northern slaves who weren't freed until after the end of the war in 1868 and the 14th amendment - 5 years after the Emancipation Proclamation. Lee had freed all his slaves even before the the Emancipation proclamation. He even wrote of his dislike of the institution and believed it was doomed to fail. If Lincoln was so anti slavery, why did he offer Lee, a slave owner at the time command of the Union Army, and Lee, a man who was freeing his own slaves from an institution he disliked, why did he agree to become the commander of the Confederate forces?

When the racist elements of the Democratic party abandon it for the Republicans after civil rights, that doesn't exactly say good things about the Republicans, now does it. Seriously? How about our first republican President: Abraham Lincoln. He ended slavery. Civil rights was on the republican plank in 1948 when the southern democrats walked away from their party. Southern Democrats have done more to keep the black man down than any party in my nations history. That is an indisputable fact. No degree of spin from the left will change that. These people turned their backs on their ideals. Now you want my party to somehow share the blame with a bunch of turncoat racists that jumped ship? I call bullshit! What you are saying represents one of the biggest problems that mainstream America has with the left today. You do not believe in individual responsibility. If someone drops out of school, gets hooked on dope. pops out illegitimate children, etc., its never their fault. Somehow society is to blame. Somehow its my fault. i do not pay enough taxes. We did not provide free condoms in the fourth grade. Blah blah blah. I do not choose to share the blame. I choose to call people out on their bad decisions in life. They need to be held accountable for their actions. That fact that these southern democrats turned their backs on their ideals reflects poorly on them, and them alone. What were we republicans supposed to do? Say go join the communist party? We were in the middle of a cold war. These people were determined to keep the black man down. Thats on them, and them alone. They can call themselves whatever they want too, be it democrat, states right democrats, republicans, etc.. It makes no difference. The fact remains that a bunch of left wingers sold out to support segregation. Thats a fact. Thats on them. Your spin can not change history.
