Geez. My heart goes out to all the victims of this tragedy. Fuck whoever the hell did this shit. I don't swear often but that was worth it.

Strutz Strutz:
Considering the size of the crowd of spectators at an event such as this it is amazing that the number of fatalities is not higher than it is so far, though 3 is bad enough.

I wasn't so amazed. By all appearances the device was a home built anti-personnel munition. Effective anti-personnel munitions maim rather than kill, either because you want the enemy to drain time and resources tending to the wounded (more a battlefield scenerio) or because you want to draw in first responders to tend to the casualties, who then get hit with a much larger and more lethal secondary device.

Those who rushed in for the injured were very, very brave.

I'm hoping whoever it is he doesn't join the parade of guys with Canadian passports involved in recent attacks.

It's like "please, please, don't be another Canadian".

It has the whiff of an old foe. I'll leave it that for now.

I'll say it. Ball bearing explosives in trash cans were an IRA favourite.

There'll be lots of people in Britain looking with glee at a city which funded the IRA suffering from an IRA-like attack.

Now Bostonians know what the people of Britain had to put up with for many years - rather than an isolated attack like Boston - by a terror organisation which they funded.

Another irony is that Boston police are probably going to turn to British police - who probably have more experiencing than any other police force in the world in dealing with terrorist attacks like the one which has hit Boston - for help.

I'm merely telling the truth. You're one naive individual if you don't think there are many people in Britain looking with glee at a city which funded the IRA suffering from its own IRA-like attack.

The fact that Boston has suffered a terrorist attack caused by bombs placed in litter bins, just like the IRA used to do (such as in 1993 in Warrington when two children were killed and many injured), must be one of the great ironies of the century.

I wouldn't put it past the brits. They've show how barbaric they can be this past week. But, your IRA funding BS get's the eyeroll.

Come off it. We aren't Irish.

And you think it's a myth that Americans, mainly those Irish Americans in places like Boston and New York (people in Britain also noticed the irony after 9/11 that New York, another city which funded the IRA, suffered its own terrorist attack) funded the IRA?

I'm assuming you've never heard of NORAID then? It wasn't coincidence that American funding of the IRA decreased hugely after 9/11.
