huh.

Pretty sure my cat thinks I am more than a larger cat.

I am a door opening, body scratching, food bringing, scraps preparing warm place to sleep cat. :P

$1:
But cats have remained relatively wild because 85 percent of felines breed with feral tomcats.

Too true. My place backs on to a horse pasture, and quite often I get coyote snacks semi-wild cats coming around. They are sometimes not too friendly, but often will accept a bum scratch or two. I have to chase them away because they come to my yard because of all the bird feeders.

The local humane society even has 2 categories of cats where adoption fees are waived; 'cattitude cat' where the cat is extremely anxious around cats and, 'barn buddies' where the cat is just unable to live in a house because it will not use a litter box or not destroy the furniture and rugs.

Even our bosscat thinks I am the boss cat.
Which is handy as when they are being brats I just have to make that hisssing noise and they stop. :D

The hissing noise also works on dogs. [B-o]

That 'cat whisperer' guy on Animal Planet insists that half the problem with a cat goes away as soon as they get fixed. They'll still be plenty nutty afterwards, and definitely won't ever be as compliant as a dog will, but he emphasizes that the dangerous and vicious intensity they have will mostly go away once they can't breed. Shows how powerful those cat hormones and testosterone coursing through the damn things are that they calm down so bloody fast after they've had their doin's clipped. 8O

Read somewhere recently that some cats are prone to intense seizures that get triggered by certain sounds, like clicking a pen repeatedly, keyboard typing, computer mouse clicking, or even heels across a hardwood floor. They aren't going crazy, they just can't help it. So if the cat suddenly charges face-first into a table-leg right in front of you as you're walking across the floor with your shoes on, it might not be doing it on purpose. It could be having a seizure induced by the sound you made and it really can't control itself.

When it launches itself claws-first at your face in the middle of the night though, or in the middle of dinner, then yeah, it's definitely doing those kinds of things on purpose.

Didn't slow our tomcat down one bit. In fact I think it made him angrier and he fought anything including a big raccoon one night.
