Those are better trenches than most. The PPCLI were practically wiped out at Paschendaele. partly because ther "trenches" barely existed.

These trenches are at the bottom of Hill 62, and are communication trenches, not front line, according to the museum.

The Sanctuary Wood Cemetery, some 500 yards back, has grave markers for men
'known to be buried in this cemetary', meaning the graveyard was shelled beyond recognition at some point.
