She was asking for it.

And then she got it.

Oh, the humanity. Not for volleyball. Is nothing sacred?

While I agree that Islam is as Islam does there is something to be said for common sense.

If you are in a country like Iran and you flout their social rules {as silly as they are} you will get an unpleasant reaction. The only thing she didn't do was wear hot pants and an American flag pin.

I can see her wanting to make a statement to try and move these mullas into a century closer to our own but that kind of statement there with those people will not have a very pleasant ending.

Like a black woman sitting in the wrong section on a bus.

If this Iranian woman decided it was her time to question what she perceives as a silly rule, who are we to question her choice.

The penalties in that society are rather sever for such a display.

Nope her choice. Who are we to mewl about what Iran does? Their country, their rules. As we know, our governments, which represent us, are quite happy to play footsie with scummy regimes, as long as it's seen as beneficial to our country. FOG demands that Canadian Muslims protest what happens in their former homeland (only to be accused then of not letting go of their homeland squabbles, of not being Canadians first). Where are Canadian Christians protesting that we buy middle east oil, or love to deal with China. Our whole foreign policy is based on what's good for Canada, fuck what they do in the countries we deal with. Yet we keep voting these people into office, because that's exactly what we want. But let's bitch about Iran, because we don't need them.

Just another application of Concernocrats making laws to control the lives of people.

It's comical that the UK was talking shit to Iran over their freedom of expression. While gleefully jailing people for making racist tweets.
