Anyone else catch parts of the eclipse? It was pretty spectacular! Nearly as cool as Mars' closesst approach in 60,000 years, about 10 years ago.

Yep! Went out at about 11:40 and 12:15 to look with my daughter (wasn't going to wait up until 12:41 for totality. :)). She's always been interested in the moon, and has named the phases after foods. The crescent moon is a banana Moon, the quarter Moon is a perogy Moon and the full Moon is a meat Moon (from the circles of garlic sausage we eat with perogies - we eat a lot of perogies). So I figured she'd like to see the eclipse, and you never know if the next one's going to be completely clouded in. I showed her before what would happen using a flashlight for the Sun, our globe for the Earth and a christmas ornament for the Moon. :)

It was fun.

I like planet gazing with 10X binoculars. It took on a nice reddish tone about 1:30 or so. Very cool!

Yes, but what omen does this portend? Are we all doomed?

We've all been doomed from the get go, don't worry though as no one can agree on when or how we will go.

Stayed up for some of it last night. It was directly over my house and the sky was totally cloudless to boot. It was like a big defective flood light slowly shut itself off and then slowly turned itself back on again. Pretty effin' neat if you ask me.

The sky was fully overcast, but they eased up a bit just before totality, so I had a view of a nice little slice of it, then the clouds moved in again and that was it, I wasn't going to stay up for the reemergence.
