$1:
But he says Winnipeg has to prove it can support an NHL team.

We can't. Or rather, we won't. The Jets were a terrible hockey team. This team is a parasite that feeds on municipal, and provincial tax dollars.

Bring back the Jets. I may be looking for a new team to support in about a week.

I think Winnipeg has learned from past mistakes and is ready for an NHL team now. Besides, the southern U.S. expansion is a failure. Bring a few of those teams up here where hockey is number one. It only makes sense.

Besides, if they gonna put teams in swamps and deserts, those oragnizations should have to guarantee the goddam ice service! Christ, watching the TB/Pitt games from Florida was like watching a friggin basketball game. The ice surface in Phoenix wasn't all that shit hot either, and it's only April!!

I will say one thing though, it's too bad the Rattman didn't try this damn hard to keep the team in Winnipeg.

And on a side note, Rattman recently signed another 5 year deal to continue ruining the NHL as commissioner.

I hope the team does move to Winterpeg, we need more Canadian teams and the rivalry between the Jets and Nucks was always a good one.

I have problems believing the Nordiques will ever come back, so I have to extend that non-belief to the Jets too.

Sorry.

Knowing Rattman, if and when the team does get yanked, he'll probably want to relocate it to someplace brilliant like Mobile, Alabama.

That was my second choice!!!!!!

Always good to put an NHL franchise is such hockey hotbeds no matter what history has shown us.

Just throwing numbers...

List by metropolitan population:
Toronto (Mississauga)
Montreal (Laval)
Vancouver (Surrey, Burnaby)
Ottawa–Gatineau
Calgary
Edmonton
Quebec City (Lévis)
Winnipeg
Hamilton (Burlington)

The first 6 all have their team, except for Edmonton and Toronto, but these are lost causes. 8O
Next in line is Québec, [cheer] but Winnipeg and Hamilton are close.

But even those 3 have a population similar to Springfield, MA... rank 76 in the USA.
Next is London with a population similar to Ogden-Clearfield (wherever the f*** that is), UT... rank 94 in the USA.

Hey now!!! Edmonton is not a lost cause. Stanley cup within 5 years I'm predicting. Just need a little time for the kds to grow up. Now Calgary... they don't even have any good kids to be hopefull about...

Hamilton and London are also uniquely situated in that both have access to a population of 500,000 or more not located within the city.

Acutally, I think K-W would be a good location for a team. 1 hour from London. 1 hour from parts of TO and 30-45 mins from Hamilton.

Throw 'proximity to a neighbouring NHL team' into the equation. I'm not against Winnipeg having a team. I never want to see our government shell out $60 million to them again though. If the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra was paying people millions of dollars to play, I'd be against that too.
