The Artic is opening, the only deep water port we have up there is being closed.

Stupid, just stupid.

Give the Artic to the Russians, they deserve it a lot more than we do.

Cretien should never have sold the seaport to begin with.

But since the Wheat Board is gone, I guess it really doesn't matter anymore. :(

The solution is simple: buy back the port from the company in Denver.

There were a group of Northern Manitoba First Nations that were interested in purchasing the rail line and port from OmniTrax but apparently nothing has come out of it so far. The rail line is vital to several communities north of The Pas for supplies. I know OmniTrax said that freight service will be maintained but they never mentioned anything about passenger service. Churchill relies on the port for a large number of jobs and I did hear a rumor about a cruise ship sailing into Churchill. With no port I wonder what is going to happen to that.
