Oh man, poor Kelowna is going to get hammered tonight. Code Orange (Mass casualty) declared at Kelowna General Hospital. Some fierce northerlies are going to turn the fire flank into its face and it will head into fresh fuel.

B.C. government declares province-wide state of emergency over wildfire situation

What is happening in Kelowna is awful. So many other areas are suffering as well.

We have friends on the edge of alert area and packed and ready to flee north of Oliver from the fire that is just south of Okanagan Falls.

A very close friend has a family cabin on Shuswap Lake NE of Chase on the brink of Alert. Nearby community where we bought our groceries, etc is already on evac order. Such a beautiful area I hope it stays that way.

On the positive... I have a coworker who has family living in Yellowknife that have made it to other family living in Edmonton to stay for now at least.

We've got people in Scotch Creek. One is a chem trails convoy chance and zero chance he is going to listen to any authorities telling him to evacuate. He may be crazier than a shit-house rat, but he's as tough as one as well, so wishing him luck.

With the Scotch Creek bridge closed, any livestock that didn't make it over is stuck there. :(

We've re-purposed the rodeo grounds here to a large animal evac centre and my partner and I are volunteering down there today.

Lots of speculation last night. We'll see what the cold hard light of day brings.

Fire near us is classified as "under control." Just managing hotspots, I hear. It was 4 deg C at sun-up this morning. Cool temps will help a lot.

Stay safe Zip. The smoke and haze has made it to the Fraser Valley as of this morning.

Scotch Creek is where I referred to actually in my post above. So sad and scary for the people who live in that area.

B.C. government introducing travel restrictions to free up accommodations for evacuees

Good. The last thing they need in these areas are tourists and besides, why the hell would you travel to these areas anyway right now? Unless you are going there to help in a significant way stay away!

Animal hotels are in big demand. Heard a lady on the radio, during cross country checkup, volunteer her 80 acre ranch to bed everything from cat to a herd of steer.

Public urged to stop tampering with firefighting equipment

$1:
Forrest Tower, an Information officer with the BCWS, said an unusual amount of equipment has gone missing in these communities over Saturday and Sunday, causing crews to have to set up gear multiple times.

WTF is wrong with people?

Altready seen the snivelling on another site about Evac order "mandates" and how Trudeau is to blame for the fires....
