With a flat faced civy attitude like this, it's no wonder socks and his globalist loving minions act like they do towards procurement and sustainability for our military.
I'd like to say I'm surprised but I'm not. As long as we have people in Canada who'd rather spend our tax dollars in foreign aide and social programs rather than on carrying our own weight and doing the right thing by honouring our committments then you're going to have assholes like this spouting off about how we'd be so much better off finanacially if we didn't have a military.
I wonder if his biased thought process has allowed for the fact that without a military we have no place at the table and will have to rely on our neighbour to protect us. But, with that protection comes a price and that price will eventually be our sovereignty which might be what he's really hoping for.
For a laugh I clicked on this guys profile because I wanted to see what his credentials were. Well as it turns out that as a former "diplomat and social entrepreneur" he's not exactly qualified to be an expert critic on military acquisitions, procurement and sustainability but for whatever reason Macleans always seems to be willing to give a platform to rabid anti military people like him which makes me wonder what their agenda is?

Yeah, definitely sick about the amount of money this country's government throws around worldwide and yet can't find enough money for the citizens of this country or money enough for a properly maintained military.

The real problem is that Scheer won't be that much better. Harper wasn't. The writer is right about one point, Canadians just don't care. Endless Lieberal governments have turned citizens into gibmedat zombies. And for those that do care, there is no real political representation for them to turn to.

Just received this by email.....
Canada's BROKE!...1% increase on Seniors' Cheques
Those numbers are astounding when you see them all together like this.
Has everyone decided how they will spend the $0.55 cent a month increase in our Old Age Security at the end of January?
We read all the jokes and forward the good ones, but I just wonder who will pass this one on. How about you sending it on, if you have nerve to do so. Be happy to be of the 1%. Someone please tell me what is wrong with all the people that run this country!!!
CONSERVATIVES & LIBERALS & NDP, say “We're "broke" and can't help our own... Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, Homeless, Etc.,???
In the last few years we have provided direct cash aid to:
Hamas - 351 M, Pakistan - 2 B,Libya - 1.45 B, Egypt - 397 M, Mexico - 622 M,
Russia - 380 M, Haiti - 1.4 B, Jordan - 463 M, Kenya - 816 M, Sudan - 870 M,
Nigeria - 456 M, Uganda - 451 M, Congo - 359 M, Ethiopia - 981 M,
South Africa - 566 M, Senegal - 698 M, Mozambique - 404 M, Zambia - 331 M,
Kazakhstan - 304 M, Iraq - 1.08 B, Tanzania - 554 M,
With literally Billions and they still hate us! In total Canada spends over 5 Billion a year on direct cash support of foreign aid, and 20 Billion on Immigration & Refugee programs .
Our retired seniors are living on a 'fixed income'. Do they get any breaks while our government and religious organizations pour hundreds of billions and tons of food to foreign countries!
We have hundreds of adoptable children who are shoved aside to make room for the adoption of foreign orphans.
AUSTRALIA, UK , THE USA & CANADA - countries where we have homeless persons, children going to bed hungry, elderly going without needed medication and mentally ill and without treatment... etc
YET- We still allow illegals & other free loaders on our shores, while we are lining up with food, clothes, bedding, doctors and medical supplies for them. Imagine if the "GOVERNMENT” gave 'US' the same support they give to other countries. Sad isn't it?
And just recently, didn't our wonderful new P.M.
give 2.6 Billion to Africa to fight climate change!
Who is going to pay off all that largess? Well, it
might be all the young people who voted for such
a lovely sweety pie!
Of course, he's just doing what most politicians have been doing for
a long time. Does it make you feel really wonderful to be so generous?
It would be nice though if some of that borrowed money would be spent on
our own citizens.

If you folks are going to default your defense to the US then we may as well take over what's left of your military and then occupy your remaining bases before we move on to occupying everything else.

You keep putting that forward, as if we had some sort of say in the matter.

Although, I'm glad you did so well on your aircraft recognition course but, unfortunately you appear to have missed the point of the meme.

The point of a good meme is a little bit of truth in the heavily coated sarcasm. CF-18s aren't dropping out of the sky on test flights, and we aren't flying Saabs. I'd cut Scheer or Ezra or whoever created the meme a little slack with it if Conservatives hadn't done exactly the opposite of their campaign promises for funding the Military, same as the Liberals. The only two certainties in Canadian politics is that both parties will lie about their support of the military, and if the third or fourth party gets in they will do exactly as Bart suggests and dissolve it completely.

Might as well. The US isn't going to let anything happen to us because we're too important as a buffer against the Russians and as a source of important resources. Canadians aren't sovereignty-obsessive; if we were we wouldn't have so eagerly signed on to the "free" trade deals. Cut a deal for America to take over full continental defense, especially with taking over the northern airbases and coastal patrols (that the US is doing already anyway), and it'd save us a ton of money we could use elsewhere. Hell, I'd sign off on a deal like that ASAP just to be at DND Procurement HQ on the day all the careerist hacks there all get fired.

In exchange for what ? Oh I know, the oil in Alberta ought to pay for it.
