I smell a law suit and a big piece of shit called wall mart. Not only do they fire the guy for using a prescription medication, who has cancer, but now the underhanded shits want to stop him from collecting UI benefits?? $1: "I was told they do not accept or honor my medical marijuana card," says Casias.
In an e-mail from headquarters, WalMart spokesman Greg Rossiter explained the company policy. It states: "In states, such as Michigan, where prescriptions for marijuana can be obtained, an employer can still enforce a policy that requires termination of employment following a positive drug screen. We believe our policy complies with the law and we support decisions based on the policy." Interesting how they think that company policy can trump state law. What's next, they can claim that they don't accept or honour state labour laws or health codes? These asswipes need a kick in the nuts.

I can proudly say that Wal-Mart has never got one penny from me. If I want cheap prices, I'll go to Giant Tiger and support a fully Canadian company.

I used to work for WalMart they need a swift kick in the nuts over a bunch of things, not only this.

So will they do the same for people who use opioids legally? What about somebody who's on methadone maintenance?

Also, I looked over my own store's policies regarding drug use/possession. At my store, anything approved by a doctor or otherwise prescribed is allowed. Also, the company doesn't delve into employee's personal lives. Screw Wal-Mart. Seriously though, even if he was toking up for fun, at home, on his day off, why bother him? If they brought piss-testing here, they wouldn't be able to fire me before I quit. Heh, I even had to take a "piss-test" for an interview

I mean really, imagine the kind of horrors that could occur if Walmart Employees had trace amounts of THC in their systems. The potential for disaster is enormous when something as essential as Walmart has Pot Heads working there!

I think the problem was he was greeting people a little too effusively (either that or just hiding in a corner going "Oh my god, the horror...") Plus he kept frisking people for munchies.
