But it's only a minority of pit bulls that are dangerous. We just have to accept that a few of them are going to be radicalized into killing people. It's the price of living in a free society.

That's actually true, although you meant it sarcastically. Like most dogs, pitbulls are reflective of their owners. All the pitbulls I've met have been super friendly wigglebutts.

Dog owners need to be held criminally responsible for their dogs actions. Not so much an issue in this case.

This one's more of a cautionary tale.

What makes them different than most dogs is their capacity to inflict harm.

The proper expression these days is "part and parcel" of living in
a multi dog society.

Stats say not so much.

In total number of attacks they really don't stand out. Total number of FATAL attacks, nothing else comes close.

Friend of ours has 4 pit bulls.
Friendly, waggy charming dogs. But I sure as hell would never go to her house and try to get in if she wasn't home.
And I pity whoever's stupid enough to raise a fist at her if the dogs are around.

Another reason why I carry a .45 with hollow points in the mag. If I ever have to shoot something like one of those monsters I want the damned thing to die on the first shot and not the last shot.

This is Canada. We take care of the pit bull problems with a bat. Or a hockey stick.

If I were you I'd use one of these and would hope that it was sufficient:
