I gotta wonder about this guy too. I heard he was discussing how the Alexis First Nation was having trouble getting fresh fruit and vegetables (obviously the traditional ones) and thought "That reserve is a half hour drive for Mayerthorpe! And about an hour from Edmonton!" How can they not get fresh fruit and vegetables? I drive farther every day to work?!?

I think the fact that it's the UN pretty much sums it up. Darfur, nothing to see there, move along. Iran, what human rights abuses? Zimbabwe, nope no problem with access to food there. But Canada, well now, I'm surpised there was enough paper in the UN head office to even print that report with .

Growing up, we always had a huge garden to produce our own fresh veggies. Store bought root veggies were a myth. Usually the only time I had potatoes not grown at home was when I had fries in a restaurant. My mother and my grandmother both worked full time and yet we always had home made pickles, relishes, jams and jellies. We had our own berry(raspberry and strawberry) and rhubarb patches, but we always went out picking saskatoons(yuck), cranberries, chokecherries, currants. We also had three apple tree, a shitload of crabapple trees of different varieties and bout a dozen plum trees. We also had hazel nuts but the squirrels usually got those first. After I left home, my dad started growing kiwis and grapes made created for colder climes. On top of all this we had our own chickens, hogs, turkeys and cattle we kept on a few family farms.

Now the only full time jobs these lazy bastards seem to have are sitting on their thumbs, blaming whitey for all their troubles and keeping correctioal facilities full. What's wrong with planting their own gardens, raising their own animals and building a few greenhouses to supplement the KFC and cola? It'll keep the kids busy, create a sense of pride and possibly generate business opportunities... God knows they have access to a bottomless vault of taxpayers money.
