$1:
Vancouver teenagers laid on the steps of a federal government building Saturday while staging a “funeral for our future” over a lack of action on climate change.

More than a dozen members of the Sustainabiliteens, a youth climate activist group, held the funeral to mourn the stalled talks at COP25, a United Nations climate conference in Madrid.

The two-week conference was at risk of ending late Saturday without any major commitments from major world economies to further reduce emissions and stop rising temperatures — an outcome organizer Alex Morrison said is unacceptable.

Global warming can be stopped with high taxes and wealth confiscation.

I recall that was also the socialist solution to global cooling.

I'd rather have some warming versus cold thanks. Vegetables grow better when it is warm.

Two things. A)Never listen to envirotards. Remember when we had paper bags and straws and shit and we had to quit using them because they weren't sustainable and were "destroying our forests"? So we switched to plastic. That went well didn't it. Now we're reverting back to paper products in some cases while I've been seeing the idea of "plyscrapers" floated around. Skyscrapers made of a type of plywood because wood is sustainable. But somehow various paper products weren't sustainable 30 years ago because apparently we hadn't figured out how to plant trees yet.

B) Remember Y2K? You know what that proved? Throw enough media hype out about anything and people will believe it. The Y2K and AGW scams are solid proof of how gullible and stupid the average taxpayer/consumer actually is.

Then the left tries to play coy. They switch from the term AGW to calling it climate change so they can feel superior when they accuse those who question AGW as being climate change deniers.
Fact: VERY few people have actually suggested that the climate doesn't change or isn't changing.
Fact: "climate change deniers" aren't denying anything. They are questioning the veracity of the AGW claim. But leftards don't care because they're all about spin doctoring any comment that isn't 100% in agreement with them as being from a "denier" or a "racist". Example: If you're pro-immigration but still support the ideals of border/national sovereignty, then you're an anti-immigrant racist.

So, we know that the climate changes all the time. Sometimes slowly, sometimes alarmingly quickly. And we can safely assume that we do affect the climate to some degree seeing as how we affect every other aspect of our environment. But there's a difference between knee-jerking up solutions without thinking them through, which humans are quite exceptional at, and coming up with practical, viable solutions that don't slit our economic throats.

Take wind power for example. I have a link that tracks the hourly output of Ontario's energy mix. The tale of wind (and solar) in Ontario is not a good one. Tonight is a particularly good day/night for wind. We're currently generating 2400MW. 24 hrs ago wind was cranking out a paltry 492MW. How the fuck do you generate reliable power on the vagaries of wind and solar without fossil fuels? Last night wind power was generating enough power to supply just 170,000 homes in a province with 13 million people. With any other form of power generation it would be a bug in the system that would cause so little power to be produced. With wind power it's a goddam feature of the system.

And finally, let's assume for a moment that we are indeed the primary driver of climate change. Nothing is going to solve the problem unless we solve the human population problem. With the advent of modern medicine we took ourselves out of the natural life cycle and created our own artificial life span. As such, individually we consume roughly twice as many resources over our lifetimes as we did before the days of modern medicine. Looking the human population clock, we're on track to have a net of 80 million new lives by the end of this year. 80 million new lives that need food, water, energy, housing, resources to make consumer goods for them etc etc.
Until the population size is addressed everything else will be just pissing into the wind. And sadly, the only options so far are rather dystopian. Some kind of Logan's Run future where you get euthanized once you reach a certain age. Or a forced sterilization program whereby only select people will be permitted to reproduce. I'm sure there's a few other bad directions that humans can go in. Humanity has an amazing capacity for making some awful choices, sometimes even when they're trying to do something good.
