UK faces food and fuel shortages in no-deal Brexit, says leaked plan

London (CNN) With less than 75 days until Britain is set to exit the European Union, a government report leaked to newspaper the Sunday Times reveals the disastrous effects a no-deal Brexit would unleash on the country.

The United Kingdom would likely face food, fuel and medicine shortages if it crashes out of the bloc without a transition deal, according to the forecasts compiled by the Cabinet Office under the code name "Operation Yellowhammer."

The dossier also predicts the introduction of a hard border in Ireland, which has been a main sticking point in negotiations, and severe travel disruptions at UK ports that could last up to three months.

Medical supplies coming from Europe will be "vulnerable to severe extended delays," and the availability of fresh food will be reduced, causing prices to rise, the newspaper reported.

It added that the public and businesses remain largely unprepared for a no-deal Brexit, and that growing "EU exit fatigue" had hampered contingency planning.

"This is not Project Fear, this is the most realistic assessment of what the public face with no deal," a senior government source told the Sunday Times. "These are likely, basic, reasonable scenarios, not the worst case."

Once again, right-wing ideology trumps anything remotely resembling reason and common sense.

Yeah, it's still Project Fear. The same govt that leaked the info also stated that it was a "Worst case scenario", not a guaranteed outcome or "the most realistic assessment". Once again, left-wing ideology spins the fucking crap out of what was actually stated and trumps anything remotely resembling reality and fact.

Oh look, more absolute bullshit from Project Fear.

Must be the same leftist twats that said just voting Brexit would crash the world.

Or that not joining the Euro would crash the pound.

Or that Blair wanted peace.

Once again, left-wing ideology

You remember the left wing, the one that made all those horrible, horrible trade deals?
All those commie bastards like Mulroney, Reagan and Thatcher.

Who?

The most recent horrible trade deal I know of was the brainchild of Justin Trudeau.

And I can't believe people are still taking CNN seriously. There's more truth in the Babylon Bee.

No you read it wrong. Again. Go back and read that part again.

It said the predicted shortages are NOT the worst case scenario, they ARE the realistic scenario.

During the Brexit campaign, weren’t you guys promising the EU was going to give the UK a sweetheart deal and the exit would be so soft it would bring about paradise on earth? Voting Brexit has already crashed the UK markets and weakened the economy.

Merkel has given BoJo a month to come up with an alternative to the backstop. It’s hard to see what it will be:

https://www.independent.ie/ca/opinion/c ... 28895.html

The extraordinary thing is that the Brexiteers didn’t seem to devote any serious thought to the land border with the EU until it was brought to their attention after the referendum.

Germany 'warns Britain its food producers might not bother exporting to the UK after a No-Deal Brexit over fears there could be chaos getting across borders'

German exporters could 'abandon their UK market in the event of No Deal Brexit'
Foreign Office reportedly warned that German food producers fear border chaos
Despite preparations German firms want to avoid goods getting stuck at Dover

AAAAAARGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH!!! The SKY IS FALLLLLLLLLLLLING !

Germany exports 700 million euros worth of food to the UK

They will just walk away from 700 million, this is the 'experts ideas'

German exports to other countries that it relies heavily on, such as China and the United States, have also suffered due to global trade disputes, meaning any disruption with the Britain could worsen the country's economy even further.

Oh, more countries that trade with no 'free trade' deal.

Last week it was announced that Germany's economy shrank by 0.1 per cent in the second quarter sparking fears a recession is looming in the biggest eurozone economy.

So wait, you are telling me the Germans will willingly stop the type of business they do
with others, to walk away from a billion euro business, and drive themselves further into
recession, because there might be one more sheet of paper to fill out ?

Sure.

Before the Common Market (name before the EU) the UK did okay with food import/export. After joining, food prices generally rose. A large amount of inferior French fruit and veg became the only choice. People were really pissed of that they couldn't get the English grown produce. Farmers were equally pissed that they were somewhat restricted in selling their goods to the English market.

Time to go back to how it was and give an almighty fuck you to the EU.

Yes but the EU only wants the kids, house and it's contents, car, bank accounts, dog, cats, parrot, dust bunnies from under the bed. The only thing they don't want is the gun safe because that would put fear in hearts of Merkel and co.
