Notice how they seem to like foisting taxes on people who can't vote them out?

That's why they keep dividing you along Republican/Democrat lines, despite the two parties being not that different in actions. So you don't coalesce, and vote them out.

We did it once with the PC party. We can do it again if we get pissed off enough. I've had it up to here /|\ with US touting 'Free' trade.

We despise 'free trade' too, because it is typically just free trade for the importers.

Don't American consumers enjoy their imports? We Canadians love our cheap Chinese junk. I may go to WalMart for cheap shoes tomorrow.

Nope. We have a representational republic.

That means that I get to vote for the President, two US Senators, and one Congressman.

The majority can pass taxes without the approval of the people I voted for. Worse, they can pass regulations at the agency level that can cost far more than taxes with near no oversight at all.

Show me one country where it's any different. In Bartland we'd have people saying "I didn't vote for that, so I won't pay" and Bartland would collapse in on itself until it really became the republic of Bart.

From the producers of Republic of Bart and The Republic of Doyle comes an all new romantic comedy action drama, Doyle & Bart.

Can a recently out of the closet hard bitten NFLD PI forge a romantic involvement with a kitten soft gun nut from California still in the closet?

Tune in every Tuesday @ 8PM (730 in NFLD) and see. :P

Andy, you asked me a straight question and I gave you a straight answer.

And I asked you another straight question, for which you have no answer. To complain about something that nobody does differently is not very helpful. Actually Switzerland comes closest, there is a lot of popular input for spending, not just at election time. But as we saw in the recent gun topic, Switzerland aint the US.
