I didn't watch it, but apparently even the Republicans called it confused and contradictory. Well, most Republicans. Anne Coulter gushed about it. A Donald Trump taps into anger about U.S. misadventures in the world: Keith Boaghttp://www.cbc.ca/news/world/donald-tru ... -1.3556790

I guess it's okay to make sexual jokes about women if they are from the politically correct lefties. You know, the ones that claim to be the most caring and non-judgemental.

Saying you don't find a woman sexually attractive = saying she should be raped. Saying she should be raped = joking. Got it.

Trump won't win so it doesn't matter, he might not even win the GOP nomination. Clinton will be the next president baring a legal issue with the FBI and/or, if Sanders is persuaded to run as an independent. If Trump wins, there is one hope we had all better have and that is that he hires the brightest minds at his disposal. He is someone who plays hardball all the time and doesn't seem to care much for diplomacy.
There are a few vital points that Americans in general are receptive to which transcend Trump: First, countries such as Canada have been pressured by America to meet our obligations under NATO of 2% GDP commitment. This is coming from the current US administration and has noting to do with Trumps opinion, it has always confused and frustrated Americans as to why we don't meet this obligation. Considering how we are basically untouchable with the U.S protecting us, the least we should do is treat our own military and our allies with some mutual respect, no? We are driving forward to our obligations for climate control but not military commitment?
Second. Many countries HAVE been taking advantage of America. They have a system based on particular set of values which other countries pretend to share but don't. Stabbing them in the back while smiling to their face.
Third, the worry from allies is that America will become isolationist, this is gaining great popularity in America so the worry is real. This belief was also the one issue I disagreed with Rand Paul on, I believe in Libertarian views, but not isolationist policies. I am an unabashed believer in American supremacy, and I would hope Canada tries to punch above their weight as we can. As far as I am concerned, America should carry the flame for all freedom loving citizens, ASSUMING the of the free world do their part within their means. This means keeping up with NATO obligations among other commitments.
What is absurd, is when America helps out, the world says they are "meddling", yet, when someone supports isolationism the world becomes "alarmed". It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't situation for Americans and I find it insulting that they risk their soldiers and countries point their finger at them as war mongerers, including Canadians. If another powerful nation knew without a shred of a doubt that America wouldn't help defend Canada or any other militarily small nation, does anyone believe that certain nations wouldn't just invade them?
Reagan angered so many for his strong foreign policy stance and his unwavering support for Israel. He took a moral stand based on shared values anywhere in the world where they existed and in his absolute hatred for Communism. In the end, we avoided nuclear war and drawn out wars such as Vietnam. The greatest president of my lifetime as far as I am concerned and one which the next president should study if they want to learn how to deal with legitimate threats without going to full-out war.
One final point. Maybe I am wrong, but there's a possibility that Trump is using this position to pressure NATO members to shape up or deal with the fall-out. His strategy seems to be "create chaos and remain unpredictable". It seems to be working.

shockedcanadian shockedcanadian: Trump won't win so it doesn't matter. If I had a dollar for every time that's been said in the past year I'd be wealthier than Donald Trump. He's been "over" so many times that it's silly, yet here he is. And if there was any lesson from the 2008 and 2012 elections it's that the candidate with charisma wins. And that ain't Hillary.
