The lumber imports did not cause the fires but the two things are linked.
See, California's radical environmentalists won't allow lumber operations in a growing number of state forests. They don't allow thinning, they don't allow cutting down dead trees, they don't allow treating the forests for beetles, and they don't allow fallen trees to be removed for pulp.
Because all of this would supposedly cause a 'Holocaust' in California's "delicate" forests.
So California has been buying a shitload of lumber from Canada and the state's radical environmentalists have no problem doing to YOUR environment what they would NEVER allow to be done in California.
Now between the forest fires and the tariffs if California wants to build wooden homes in stupid places then we'll have to harvest the wood from our own forests instead of exporting our environmental 'Holocaust' to Canada.
