I never cared much for Assange, but I don't condone the false rape accusations against him because Manning decided to leak information through Assange. But when my intelligence community issues me warnings, I am prepared to heed them over some foreign national who does not have my best interests at heart.

And that's what's lost on conservatives. They don't understand that so-called "Liberal" media, whether the CBC or Toronto Star or Washington Post ARE the news, in the classic sense of what "the news" used to mean: reporting with journalistic integrity. But somehow that last part stopped meaning anything to conservatives. Truth became secondary to dogma.

Remember the Rob Ford story? Conservatives didn't like to hear it. They RAGED about the Star. But how'd that story turn out? Just like it was reported by the Star. Why? Because it was the truth.

CNN reported on Tuesday that the FBI was still investigating the credibility of the documents but added that the intelligence chiefs had included a summary of the material in a secret briefing on Russian interference in the election delivered last week to Barack Obama and Donald Trump.
