If the First Nations are Independant then why is the Canadian Government shelling out a lot of money to raise the water standards?

Manitoba's Grand chief, Ron Evans, said because they weren't consulted, they will oppose it

About 8% of people in BC are native. About half the people waiting in line at soup kitchens, shelters and the welfare office in Victoria are native.

It's just so darn expensive to let them take care of stuff themselves.

The World has evolved so much yet Indians can't figure out how to spend their billions on the basic necessities of life.

I don't think regulation is what's needed to ensure clean drinking water on reserves. What's needed is for the Natives to deal with the problem on their own. More laws won't change apathy or inaction.

Mr_Canada Mr_Canada:
I do not object Natives getting the same drinking water as you or I.

I hope none of you actually oppose this either.

I certainly don't. But if I do not live within city/village limits, I have to dig my own well and get myself a septic tank and maintain it, because the city won't give me. Why is this different? :?

We have enough problems here at home, we shouldn't be giving so much money in foreign aid. If those First Nations want clean water, they should tax their populations and build it, same as we do in Canada.

But that's not how Indians think.

Indians should be provided for. They should take zero responsibility for their own well being, that falls upon the tax payers of Canada. Everything is the fault of the white man....alcoholism,crime, terrible education, poor living conditions, contaminated drinking water....the whole thing is all our fault and we'll be paying for it for generations to come.

Let's not ever expect them to be anything but leaches on the Canadian tax payer.
