What was this guy thinking? Night race, dark track, wearing a black helmet and fire suit......a definite entry for this years Darwin award......

No kidding. But why was the track so poorly lit? If the track had been fully lit that likely wouldn't have happened, the drivers idiocy notwithstanding.

That's a new one ... "black light" oval track racing.

Tragic. That kid was a fool for getting out of his car and confronting the guy who knocked him out though. I understand this is fairly common in NASCAR, but it's stupid.

The first rule drivers are taught in any decent driving school is "unless it's on fire, you do not leave your vehicle". Drivers are notoriously afraid of fire.

The next few days will be interesting. There will be a lot of focus on why he chirped the throttle as he drove by. Speculation us that hd wanted to spray the driver with dirt. May have been a tragic miscalculation which could result in charges.

Possibly but those carts are also steered more by throttle than steering wheel. More likely just trying to avoid him.

That's the other point. Because of the way the rear end is set up, when you hit the throttle the rear end idea out to the right. Either way, when he tapped throttle as he went by, the result was a predictable physics experiment. The rear wheels popped to the right and hit the guy standing there

True. Those are go carts with race car engines and crazy fast. Not to mention large open wheels that suck up and spit out anything they touch. The kid made a bad decision to get out in the middle of the track and paid with his life.

This. And in a nutshell the deceased is responsible for what happened to him.
