This makes me wonder how long Danielle Smith can possibly keep the peace between the different factions of her caucus, not to mention the party executive. In between Take Back Alberta's pushing for harder actions, the resistance from the more moderate UCPers, the backlash it might provoke from voters the UCP needs to hold onto if it wants to win the next election and her own checkered political judgement, will they even last the full mandate?

Unfortunately in Alberta the conservatives only destroy themselves when they're in power, which means their inner drama & backstabbing in turn damages the province as the ministers, premier, and backdoor chuds play their idiotic gamesmanship. As good as an opposition as the NDP are and have been they won't be the ones to take out Smith. It'll be the usual palace coup that ousts her some day, as per the tradition of what happened in due course to Klein/Redford/Kenney.

Think about it - Prentice losing in the 2015 election was the only time since Lougheed put paid to the old worn-out Social Credits that an Alberta government & premier was toppled by an outside force (i.e. the anger of the voters) that they couldn't control. Once again it's a great thing to keep in mind when Albertans, who live in an existential one-party state simply because we aren't clever enough to think any differently than our grandparents did, bitch & whine & moan about the next time the Eastern voters who are "voting the same all the time" someday send another massive Liberal majority to Parliament.
