Not new...
In what was determined by the Army Corps of Engineers to be an "isolated incident", a fisherman caught a single snakehead on October 9, 2004 while fishing from Lake Michigan at Burnham Harbor in Chicago, Illinois.
False alarm this time...
On August 8, 2010, it was reported that a northern snakehead had been caught at the Welland Canal, which links the two Great Lakes, Lake Erie and Lake Ontario. The following day, Becky Cudmore of Fisheries and Oceans Canada announced that the fish had been identified as a bowfin, a native species unrelated to the snakehead, based on a photograph from the sighting.
