How horrible. Unfortunately the death toll is likely to rise.

At least they have made arrests and hopefully have the scum behind this.

Actually some media outlets have offered up a couple of names - Zahran Hashim and Abu Mohammed - but according to the NY Times the Sri Lanka government is requesting a no-names policy from media on the grounds they don`t want to create what they call ``Martyrs.`` - something the media has never shown great concern about in other cases but are complying with here.

Presently the media appears to be taking the Ilhan Omar line of:

Seven suspects have been arrested, as it emerged the country's police chief had warned of an Islamic extremist plot to target 'prominent churches' just 10 days earlier, but no group has yet claimed responsibility for the attack.

Just putting this here and not saying anything else.

At some point governments are going to have to start pushing back against this crap or else they'll be replaced by people who are willing to take the necessary measures to keep their people safe from Islamic imperialism.

Agree. This is why men like Trump are being elected.

Exactly, Llama. Also notice the election in Ukraine where a total outsider swept the election to become President.

A growing number of people in the world are sick to death of business as usual and we're fed up with government after government that does whatever the fuck it wants and ignores the people they're supposed to serve and protect.

On that topic, here's some stuff from the US Government:

$1:
04/21/2019 12:01 PM EDT

Press Statement
Michael R. Pompeo
Secretary of State

Washington, DC

April 21, 2019

The United States condemns in the strongest terms the terror attacks in Sri Lanka on Easter morning. Attacks on innocent people gathering in a place of worship or enjoying a holiday meal are affronts to the universal values and freedoms that we hold dear, and demonstrate yet again the brutal nature of radical terrorists whose sole aim is to threaten peace and security.

The United States offers our deepest condolences to the families and friends of those killed and wishes a quick recovery to all who were injured. While many details of the attacks are still emerging, we can confirm that several U.S. citizens were among those killed. The U.S. Embassy is working tirelessly to provide all possible assistance to the American citizens affected by the attacks and their families.

These vile attacks are a stark reminder of why the United States remains resolved in our fight to defeat terrorism. We stand with the Sri Lankan government and people as they confront violent extremism and have offered our assistance as they work to bring the perpetrators to justice.

The following is an unrestricted summary of a report from the FBI:

$1:
Sector : Emergency Services

Executive Summary:

Authorities in Sri Lanka have blamed a local Islamist extremist group for the coordinated suicide bombings that targeted churches and hotels on Easter Sunday.

•The bombings struck three hotels in the capital, Colombo, as well as three Christian churches in three cities – Colombo, Negombo, and Batticaloa.

•Officials further allege the suspected group, known as National Thowheed Jamath, could not have executed an operation of this scale assistance from “international sources.”

•The Sri Lanka President has indicated he will seek help from foreign governments to identify and track the links of the attackers to external support.

•As of 9:00 am on Monday, April 22, reported casualties are 290 people killed and some 500 wounded or injured.

The report itself (as I am reading it) is unusually marked as UNCLASSIFIED instead of as the usual classification for these reports.

The summary above is pretty comprehensive but there's a few more details in the report that I am adding here. It's a pdf so it's not really easy to copy over to CKA.

$1:
Sri Lankan authorities have attributed the terrorist attack to a local Islamist extremist group known as National Thowheed Jamath – and asserted assistance from international sources.

“We do not believe these attacks were carried out by a group of people who were
confined to this country,” cabinet spokesman Rajitha Senaratne stated publicly. “There was an international network without which these attacks could not have succeeded.”

An official statement issued by the Sri Lankan government has indicated that President Maithripala Sirisena will seek foreign assistance in tracing the international links of the attackers.

The statement notes, “The intelligence reports [indicate] that foreign terrorist organizations are behind the local terrorists. Therefore, the president is to seek the assistance of the foreign countries.”

Six blasts reported within minutes targeted three Christian churches during Easter masses and three hotels.

All attacks were executed by suicide bombers.

On Monday, April 21, a ninth detonation rocked a street near a church in Colombo. News media accounts indicate that a vehicle allegedly used by the terrorists exploded as security forces tried to defuse devices left inside.

(Bart comment: Car bombs are typical in the sandbox. They have a suicide bomber make an initial attack and then a car bomb or IED is used to kill first responders.)

Later on Easter Sunday, authorities detected and defused an improvised explosive device (IED), constructed of plastic pipe 6-feet in length and packed with explosive material, near the international airport in Colombo.

According to media reporting, police have recovered 87 low-explosive detonators from the Bastian Mawatha private bus station in Pettah, in the coastal area to the southwest of Colombo.

...fucking cowards... At some point (probably soon) someone will come along who will unite all of us who are tired of these attack and the lack of action on the Government's part. Mark my words there will be a leader elected at some point that'll make Trump and Dudarte look tame. We'll see the return of the Crusades.

I'm noticing a lot less posturing finger pointing and chest pounding after this terrorist attack than the one in Christchurch. Why is that?

The "free press" seems kind of stifled too.

"Some people believe prominent Democrats deliberately avoided using the word “Christian” when condemning bombings of churches and hotels in Sri Lanka on Easter Sunday as part of a policy to undermine Christian faith in the US.

The eight bomb attacks in Sri Lanka, which killed almost 300 people on Easter Sunday, sparked worldwide condemnation. But the way some US politicians expressed their condolences sparked a minor outcry among conservative Americans. Former President Barack Obama and the former secretary of state, Hillary Clinton, were blasted for using the term “Easter worshipers” instead of “Christians” when referring to the victims of the attacks."

Paganism.

Christians worship God, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. They do not worship a particular day on the calendar.

But a non-Christian like Obama would not be expected to know anything about that.
