RIP.

I wish the CBC would close comments for stories like this. The ignorant lot that choose to make a political statement there are an embarrassment.

There is ceremony and cultural reasons to be buried with family on ceremonial ground.

R.I.P.

Unfortunately the only one that can answer that, died for something he believed in. Some will fight for neighbours.

Ahuh, and what makes you think that?

TG: I suppose, its just interesting that you would feel so strongly to defend a soil which you wouldnt want to be buried in. Takes all sorts I guess.

I think it may be easier for First Nations people to cross the border and join the American army. I have known people in the past who moved to the U.S. and Britain because at the time our military was not taking a front line role anywhere and they wanted to see action.

That makes a little more sense, but TG is right I doubt we will ever really know why. Not like it matters anyway.

Some 40,000 Canadians joined the US army and fought in Vietnam so this isn't totally unheard of.

I sent in my bitchy complaint to the CBC so I'll post it if I get a return.
