When I was a kid in Hawaii there was a guy who was there and he said when that raid started he and his father grabbed some shot guns as his father reasoned that there would be some shot down Japanese pilots.

They found one and sent him to his honourable ancestors. They weren't in the mood to be PC at the time.

Another reason why every hick with a Gun is a bad idea. A shot down Pilot was more useful Alive for Intel purposes, then Dead for some knee jerk vengeance.

Oh I never knew any pilots were shot down and survived in Hawaii but now atleast I know the reason why.

There was a midget submarine where the crew was captured and they begged the Americans to kill them as to be captured was considered a great dishonor.

The Navy did not oblige them and the spent the war in a prison camp.

There weren't very many Japanese shot down they really beat the shit out of us.
