Always struck me as peculiar that the less material in a woman's bathing suit, the more expensive.

As a large (or fat) person, its the price of being fat, everything is more expensive. I mean most of my shirts are made from a ship's sail, its not cheap. Fat people sizes are about 50-65% more. You need to shop around. Amazon is great for fat people, its cheap af. Roughly 50% less.

That's exactly it, logic!
If I eat more, I pay more. If I want a bigger TV, couch, car, house, property, or even boobs, I pay more. Use more. Pay more.

It's getting to the point where I'm ashamed of the world we live in. Social justice warriors on one side, and evil corporate shill conservatives on the other. When did common sense become so uncommon?

Good idea! I've been shopping at Edmonton Tent and Awning, and never thought of a Sailing store!

Yep, and if you're so effin' fat that you can't sit in an airline seat without spilling over into the next seat then you should have to pay for a second seat.

I'm a big guy but a few years back some monstrous lardass sat next to me on a SWA flight to LA and insisted he had a right to let his arm sit on my leg. I told the flight attendant that I was not going to be subjected to this insult and after some consultation the flight crew agreed with me and the rude shitstain was escorted off the flight.

SWA isn't fancy but I do respect them for resolving this situation. [B-o]

What's always really irked me about the whole "whale on a plane" thing is, tall people have a legitimate problem they can't control or change, yet they're shoved into a tiny seat (I do NOT fit). Obese people chose their size (unless you're the 1 in 10 million with a legit medical issue). It's like being racist against tall people for being born tall, but operating an affirmative action program for people who like food too much.

Tell that to a Samoan. With them its not all fat either which us why they are the best rugby players.

Michael O’Leary of Ryanair proposed pricing air tickets based on the combined weight of people and their luggage but was shot down rapidly.

Well "big" is in the same category as "tall". Beyond your control.

But I've also always wondered why we aren't charged by weight. It's air travel. There's an almost linear correlation between weight and fuel consumption!

I'm a heavy guy and I agree with your proposal. The notion of a 'total weight per person' seems pretty fair. Give everyone a certain weight for themselves and their baggage and make them pay extra if they exceed this.

I can also see just letting people pay extra up front.

The last time I flew to Hawaii I splurged for 1st class for the two of us and it was wonderful! Plenty of legroom for my two-meter-tall frame, I rattled around in the oversize seat, and starting my day at 7am by getting a Mai Tai was pretty fucking awesome! :D

I'm not landwhale sized, more like manatee sized, I'm fine with the notion of having to pay for two seats to haul my fat ass around. My choice to eat cheesecake over vegetables, so the consequence should be to pay more. Now I'm depressed. *eats cheesecake*
