Zipperfish Zipperfish:
Makes perfect sense to me. The roads are a publicly paid for. Peoplethat use them should help pay for them. It used to be nicely handled through a gasoline tax, so that (presumably) the more gasoline you bought, the more you used the roads. That doesn't work with electric cars.
gas tax only for the roads ? You're kidding, right ?
So you're saying to all the gas drivers that after you have paid
$100 in tax, which for the car user would be max 3-4 tankfuls,
the rest of the money goes... where ?
That the state says the money goes to road maintenance / improvement
is a sick joke.
And anyway, where does all the money you pay for registering a car
in the first place go ? Roads ?
It's a complete slap in the face to all the tree huggers who
spent a ton of money on a Leaf or Tesla.
The quote from the article is right, the electricity used is already taxed,
so now they are double taxed, and you can be sure the amounts will only go up.
So much for supporting green.
